This is incorrect. The movie was shot in IMAX and 2.35:1 which is Cinescope which is what most movies are actually shot in hence the black bars you get on a 16:9 set.
All of the movie was shot in Analog ie on film not on digital cameras then it is processed into digital for post production and then either printed onto film or put on DVDs/Hard Drives for distribution.
There is actually more info on a piece of analog film then there is in a frame of digital film. Its is the same as the difference between vinyl and cd the vinyl has more information than the CD does the CD is cleaner, just the same as digital is cleaner.
I would highly suggest going to see it in IMAX since it was filmed in 70mm IMAX format.
