Someone in one of the most secretive branches in our government, the NSA, felt it was "unethical" to wiretap people, and leaked it to the NYTimes. Right.

As for the argument PKC makes above about the unreliability of world governments agreeing on some magic subject, that's we have the Illuminati. The Illuminati also owns Hollywood, and Hollywood is making cute kids movies about aliens (Wall-E, Lilo&Stitch) so that when our little Padwans grow up and the aliens are unveiled, they will not be so hostile and frightened.
Just like the Illuminati released Anastasia in 1997 for Lenin propaganda and Happy Feet for global warming (since several of the aliens that head the Illuminati are deeply affected by these severe weather changes)
