Seriously though dude, get a grip. No one was attacking you until you started attacking everyone else first.

If you listen to No One On Eath backwards enough you begin to feel the hate within you boil.

My point is that a lot of you seem to think that no one should think A&B are better than Garnier. I have respect for him sure, but that doesn't mean he's better. I am sorry for getting so heated with you guys, but just because some people love Above and Beyond doesn't mean they have bad taste.

Good and bad taste is opinion based. So is better and worse. No one is going to win an argument between those, so theres not really a reason to begin one.

I would go see Above & Beyond...if Jaytech was still touring with them.

Gimme two rolls and I'll go see Above and Beyond...

Really though, Laurent Garnier would be amazing. I would probably see A&B regardless because they were pretty instrumental in getting me into edm. gaaaayyyyy brrrrrroooo

Just because they were instrumental then doesn't mean you have to force yourself to like what they play now

I haven't ever made it through an entire episode of TATW, but I can say that Anjuna records all sound just about the same. And that's not an endearing trait by any means.

I'm pretty sure that's not right. He burst onto the scene globally with "Wake Up" IIRC (granted I was in high school at the time, 1993, so my memory may be foggy).

That said, how about having them on consecutive weeks so we can end this discussion with all involved being happy?

I'm not really forcing myself to like it, I just really don't mind most of their stuff off tri-state, or even some of their other releases (Sirens Of The Sea). I'm well aware it's probably just nostalgia, but I could see myself at least having a good time at a show of theirs, I just couldn't take it too seriously. I also classify most of their stuff as "vocal pap" but that doesn't stop it from being catchy.

As for myself. I've been eagerly awaiting the return of some sweet anjuna beats since Above and Beyond rocked Opera last fall. Screw the haters who have to vomit contempt all over a thread devoted to three of the top trance artists! There's plenty of space in Atlanta and on these forums for varied tastes, and, in Zack's defense, you'd be pissed if people spammed threads about your favorite artists with substance-free commentary such as ... "Meh, who cares, Artist X is better." If I and others posted in every house* thread, "Meh, Armin's better. Don't waste your time and money on this event," it'd get old pretty damn fast.

[* I do usually appreciate house.]

If the majority of people in ATLTA don't want money wasted on A&B coming into town, then I think it's our prerogative to go ahead and say that. Fuck the internet for being so free, ya know?

Yeah, you're totally free to say that, but it's also pretty obnoxious.

Just let us have our fanboy / fangirl hype moment in this thread (entitled "we need above and beyond back", by the way) uninterrupted by spam regarding a totally unrelated artist. Most fans drawn to this thread really don't care that you're unimpressed by Above & Beyond, so why bother posting in it? Are A&B fans in the minority on ATLTA? Who cares? EDM fans are in the minority in Atlanta, so should we be playing hip hop every night in every club?

Regardless, there's a huge audience for trance in Atlanta, as evidenced by the turnout at recent AVB and Tiesto shows. Were those shows a waste?

Okay, sorry for that off-topic. Back to something relevant to the subject:

quote:
We will get Above & Beyond back. I spent the entire week with them when they were in Atlanta last time. They love Atlanta and are really into playing here again. I was super impressed with them from a professional perspective and their technical competency. These guys just love what they do and are all about Atlanta. The only thing disappointing last time was the turnout. They are definitely a top DJ performance in the world and I was very surprised by the light turnout. We had to change the date of their show last minute, but I really think they will bring a massive turnout when the return. Hopefully, we can bring them in soon. Thanks for the feedback.

This. This is awesome. I was upset when I heard their US tour this summer (last month?) was primarily on the West Coast. We need some Anjunabeats back in Atlanta by the end of the year! We'll guarantee a crowd triple the size this time around (potential schedule changes notwithstanding).

This is what happens when people take the internets too seriously.

Yeah, I'm embarrassed I was compelled to type that. Awesome work on trolling this thread. :P

EDIT: Note that we're both discussing this at midnight on a Sunday.
