It'll only take you a few minutes to determine whether what you have is good enough. If it isn't I'd consider renting additional PAs before a sub and throwing it on your bill.

Are you throwing down background music or is this for a dance?

Thanks again for your reply this time.
It's for a dance.

Yeah, I've never set up for a room that big. I'm small time right now!

Honestly, have your client meet you there with minimum amount of gear and find out if they like it, if that's possible of course. Just a thought. But... yeah, I'd go for more PA before Subs, but that's just me and the fact that the punch of a kick isn't super low.

I'm pretty small time too. This would be the biggest gig yet. We'll see if they decide to go with me or some old dood that lowballs my bid.

Yeah, and don't take everything I say for absolute truth. These are just some minor points I go by. I'm limited on PA experience since I focus mostly on studio monitor scale stuff. I do hope others speak up with more experience with a room this size.

need more gear

2 SRM350s (or comparable) for a crowd of 200 in a gym is not going to cut it. I would use 1 (or both) SRM350s as monitors, and rent something more substantial for your PA.

I think I will be able to test KRK RP8, Yamaha HS 80 but not Event TR6 or 8...

Can anybody tell me the difference between these monitors ?

Subs for KRK RP8, Yamaha HS 80 are quiet expensive... Do I have to buy it to listen to music (especially trance...) ?

No. I'm using TR8's in "Bedroom DJ" mode and the low end is good enough.

Rough estimate... 30m^2. Remember also that placement has a lot to do with it. Put your back to a corner or to a wall and you'll see.
