the biggest difference is the way in which the media reports on the violence in the middle east. the US media specifically and especially pushes a pro israel agenda.

oh look, im not gonna get drawn into an argument about the complexities of the region just wanted to point out that extremism in israel is alive and well and that it is no less prevalent than it is in palestine.

There was a good thing on Dateline or 20/20 or something like that about this (your definition of good may vary). They took 10 Palestinian kids, and 10 Israeli kids and put them all together in a camp. They all bonded, became friends, etc. They went to every one of the former children 10 years (or maybe it was 5 years, I forget) and all but maybe 1 or 2 said they hated the other. They would never be caught dead fraternizing or coexisting with the other.

Also, a friend of mine and also a former coworker of mine are both from Israel and moved to the US. One was in her 20s when she did, and the other moved with his parents when he was like 13. They both say that both sides are fucking idiots about it all. Neither wants to compromise and settle for peace.

I think you forgot that Israel has something in the neighborhood of 200-300 nuclear weapons. To attack Israel would amount to national suicide for the aggressor. Think about it...

It's not about being pro-anything. I believe that apartheid, military occupations, and blockading of an economy result in the inevitable failure of a state. In this case, the Palestinians can't even establish their own state. And failed states are breeding ground for terrorism resulting from economic collapse, instability, and nationalist rage against the perceived enemy. They didn't just wake up one day and decide to fight jihad. There are real underlying problems which need to be addressed.

If it were up to me, I'de substantially cut off aide to Israel, and treat them as any other nation in the world we have friendly relations with. Because frankly, our country, which lies on the other side of the world, has been dragged into their conflict. I believe it is George Washington who said, "No entangling alliances." Well, we've got plenty of them..
