such is the trend, though I say if your going retro, go all the way retro and slam some vinyl down on the Technics. Of course the big names won't be doing that anymore Old house vinyl can be bought for pennies at times and from retiring DJs' collections for excellent bargains. Craig's List and Ebay is your friend.

I dunno who you like to go see but a lot of the DJs I consider "big names" still play plenty of records.

....like just about everyone in Detroit this past Memorial Day Weekend.
Well maybe not everyone, but there was a lot of fucking vinyl being lugged around that weekend - more than I've seen in ages.

Yeap, and in absence of records people are still mostly using serato/traktor + control vinyl.

I have all the gear...CDJ 1000's, Laptop with Ableton, Technics...blah blah, blah, and I mix on CD most of the time as well. I really prefer spinning on vinyl the most out of it all. Sadly new releases just aren't practical to buy on vinyl due to such high costs for 1-3 tracks for the part time DJ anymore. I miss all the local record stores that have folded, with loads of cheap vinyl and white labels. Going to these places was such a thrill and a huge part of the culture for me

Thats really great, though I haven't seen that in so long. Were also talking about Detroit here which of course is going to be full of vinyl pushers.
