I see what you mean perfectly, and to be honest this mix doesn't do as much for ME as headband techno did.

I love drama. I like a little sloppiness. I like surprises and weird mixing.

For this one I was just drunk and those KRK Rockit 8's had me feeling a precision delivery all the way. My fav mixes in this are from 3-4 and then from 5-6. They're pretty much perfect...though I'm not into "perfection" so much anymore...I was when I liked Sasha & Digweed...that was something to strive for...but the more I DJ the more I realize perfection only really works on people in certain situations and that it is secondary to everything else, namely creating "moments".

As for the female vox, that tune has been slaying girls at afters. I played it three times in a weekend between the hours of 6 and 10am and every single time I had girls asking me wtf it was and humming it. So its staying in my bag of tricks for now.

man your skill when drinking is incredible. i just don't have the kind of accuracy. i don't know if it's the tracks i pick or the fact that i just ride pitch and drop tracks quickly, or i just suck, but both you and rob always keep me on my toes about tight mixing.

Fuck haha. I can mix so well while so jacked now. I've just trained myself to pay attention. The only times it ever gets to me is when I'm heading for a k-hole.

By the end of this I slipped a tiny bit...I was pretty damn wasted off one of those big bottles of chimay.

I really pay attention in the cans even when I don't spend long matching. With CDJs I've just figured out the adjustments needed and how to lock things up pretty tight. And the biggest thing, that I see people fuck up on all the time with CDJs...if I adjust the platter I'm almost always making a pitch adjustment. I see people push and push and push and it just keeps slipping because they aren't adjusting. Oakenfold was doing this at coachella. Fuckin amateurs...

Agreed. I just tend to be more confident when I'm either sober as a judge or out of my mind - and I think it's the confidence that makes me mix well.

Interestingly enough - when I was putting Gonzo together I was smoking quite a bit, and it's intent is obviously for cocktails and drugs.

When I recorded it, however, I was sober as a judge all three times. Too much going on, couldn't keep track of it all otherwise.

Fucking idiots. The best way to adjust is not by using the platter but by using the pitch slider.

I heard your mix and now I'm able to write down a reasonable review at a first glance (or listen).

Ok, in my opinion, this mix is very well done in terms of set progression and mixing. It felt to me that every track had a purpose, it can be thought of as "bridges" from one mood to the other. The overall mood of the mix was, in some ways, a comfortable wednesday night experience. I still prefer Headband Techno but this is a good departure.

The only negative comment I can make is that at times the mix does not reach a 'climax', but this is better left unsaid, as I am a true believer that some dj sets are not meant to have a progressive succession where it reaches a plateau or a peak - the dj can be bland, cold and give two cents about climaxing.

Overall, a comfortable listening experience which left a good after-taste in my mouth.

This did not work for me, I got bored @ around 26 mins and abandonned there...When the Luciano track was playing I really wanted it to end now and go to the next track. I need a bit more soulfulness and meat these days, I'm less and less patient for bland or gimmick stuff but that's just a matter of tastes I guess. Don't take this too much to the letter, as it is a fine mix for those who appreciate that kind of stuff.

i love the overall sound, whatever you want to call it. for me, it's different, and that's always most important. ive listened to the mix 3 times now in 3 different places. it's worked in the day time, night, sober and plowed. it shows the flexibility of the music. the style allows you to draw your own conclusions. it can be chill or danceable.

it reminds me of the RA115 podcast by Patrice Baumel... give that set a try, you might find some ideas.
