Nothing he's done since GU24 has been anything to write home about imo.

Well that was a trance prog-house cd from 5 years ago , and guess what he still spins trance prog with some techno above 130 bpm , do you still listen to that?

What i'm saying is why would do a review on a tracklist of a dj that you don't like his style at all, is like me going into a tiesto thread and saying , " tiesto sucks " every single time I see somebody post something about him , don't see any point there.

I already know i don't like the music tiesto spins.... so why the bad vibe???

Because even in the context of this music I don't find that tracklist interesting, there aren't any surprises. It's rather standard stuff. I don't review Tiesto CDs because I have 0 interest in anything he ever does, Warren however, I'm always willing to see what he's doing in the hope that he'll surprise me again, which he hasn't done.

In any case this is a music discussion forum, and I'm an opinionated sonofabitch, hence the post.

1) thanks for answering my question

2) I know you don't listen to this sub genre of edm anymore so your opinion is not relevant at all.

3) To read the notes and figure out the music in your head like mozart you first have to know the notes. I'm sure that regarding the majority of these track you have no clue of who , what , where and how .

4) Come on do you really expect warren to go minimal deep house at this stage of his life , he did , he does and he will spin trance-prog house.

5) and yes it is a discussion forum , but to have a good discussion you have to back it up well.

You have no idea what I listen to, and no idea what artists I am or am not familiar with. I also have no expectation of Nick Warren pulling out a Luciano track list, but I would expect him to be searching for new and exciting music, not something that in my opinion looks like the past 800 compilations he's done. As I already said, he's become predictable and fails to surprise me. An interesting down tempo or breaks disc would be really cool.

Warren said in the liner notes to GU24 that it would probably be his last GU as he didn't know what else he could offer the series. Several comps later he's still playing pretty much the same stuff, which is fine, as obviously a lot of people like it, but I wish he might surprise me here and there.

Thats my opinion and if you have any other issues dealing with it, I don't think I can help you.

If you think that all I listen to is on my RA chart...fuck dude.

Thats my top 10!

Out of thousands of tracks that I hear. I browse almost every section of beatport when looking for music. I used to play Stan Kolev tracks a lot, Jarius Miller etc...the list goes on. Just because my main preference is a certain type of music doesn't mean I've shut the door on everything else. This morning I was listening to a DnB set on the way to work.

Warren had been spinning that for years but GU24 was still fresh and very much exciting in my eyes. I still listen to it to this day, which should prove that its not just because I'm mostly into minimal tech and house that I critique him...

still the monthly charts give you and idea what the dj is listening to currently.

I can tell you this i've gone into several forums that are into this subgenre and nobody has any clue of what the majority of tracks are like . I don't think just because you spend the whole day in front of the computer browsing through beatport will make you any special.
