Found a Rane Empath for 500$ on craigslist, this is a good deal right? A quick google search told me it normally goes for like 1050$ I don't really need 3 channels but I really need a new mixer. I'm using a numark DXM 06

Like is a Rane Empath > Ecler nuo 2.0 or 3.0?

I've heard nothing but great things about the Empath. They go for $800, not $1000. Figure out if it's the blue, grey, gold, or rotary version. Can't hurt to make him an offer.

And while I'm here I guess I'll say a few words about the Vestax. Honestly I'm still pretty impressed with the value of this mixer. It doesn't have a high quality feel like a Xone, but mechanically it's very sound. The cue system is great, and the sound quality is not bad. It's got dual master outs but other than that nothing too fancy. It looks great next to the CDJ-200s, you can view the setup in the 'setups' thread.

Setup looks pretty


The guy told me I had to beat 500 so I'm giving him 520$ and picking up the mixer today. Gonna bring some tracks over there and hopefully at days end I'll have myself a much nicer setup. I'll also post pics in the Setup thread once I get everything situated.

Hey that's good to hear. I actually bought my 004 from ebay about a month ago and paid 100 for it too. I think its a pretty solid mixer as well. Enjoy it man!

Congrats Ed, the setup looks really nice and the 004 looks to have the same finish and nearly the same profile as the 200's. Those CW's must really piss off your neighbours.......

It seems that in the PR assault that pioneer have conducted in the last few years, vestax got slightly drowned out but it's interesting to see a few more people opting for them again and being very pleasantly surprised.

Thanks Rann. The 200s and the Vestax are a perfect match, looks wise.

The Cerwins blast for sure, but believe it or not the little JBLs actually sound way better.
