This is so true. I often find in many genres that the most inspiring tunes come from relatively unknown producers trying harder and producing a better quality product because they need to establish a reputation first. I also find that many producers/DJs once they have a taste of fame & fortune often let their standards slip and start pumping out rubbish for the sake of having a new release each month, hence cashing in on their own name.

realistically the CDs armin van buuurn, paul van dyk and everyone else puts out are not the best tunes. trance music is sweet only when it's live and mixed and the mp3 is 156 megabytes. or when you get the chance to check out a sick dj lives? that's the ultimate time. but that doesn't really get to happen that much. i just keep downloading mixes from everywhere.

It's not that there is more crap now it's just that more and more tracks are labelled 'trance' when they shouldn't be so the qualifying pool is ever expanding.

Also, ppl constantly analyzing the 'state of trance' too much just make it worse for themselves and also more challenging for producers that want to stay motivated crafting something worthwhile. The haters say EVERY Trance track is shit and those with their heads in the clouds expect everything to sound like the trance of 1999 - not gonna happen!

No wonder trance is out of style in the mainstream. "Ferry Corsten killed it". I hardly listen to "McTrance" anymore, moved on to other genres/subgenres.
