The weird thing about EDM and DJ culture in general is this paradoxical reverence for the big stars coupled with widespread rejection of technological innovation... which is precisely what keeps guys like Richie at the forefront. I liked hearing him state what I try to get across to some people--essentially, that certain parts of DJing are fundamentally uncreative (matching tempos, for example) and that your time is better spent on other things.

completely agree with what you said, imagine how much more creative you can be with your mix and loops and effects live when you have the beatmashing done for you , let alone the mash ups you can create on the fly and then sample those mashups into a another mash up , oh jeez hahaa

richie is one advance DJ i would say, at least he is not using ableton to play the whole set like deep dish and throw some filters and flan, he is performing more live..

It's much more about grabbing X tracks at once and automatic beatmatching. It's about having the best from both worlds playing digital files and manipulating them as if they were vinyl records.
