Afternative is right. Though I am not ga-ga over the 1200's, they are solid, quality, well-built DJ headphones, and comparing your two options side by side tends to be a very good way to make a choice!

Ahh Gluegun nice to catch you here, what timing! Let me ask you a question, has the issue about the seemingly-random HD-280 "lemons" been solved?

Because lately I've realized that I really need a LOT of isolation in headphones, more than I've thought before. The reason is because my mixing style (totally within headphones) absolutely *requires* a ton of isolation so I can hear both channels properly and not have them distorted by loud music (which sucks...otherwise I have to crank up the volume which my ears *do not* like).

As a result I'm reconsidering the HD-280's simply because of their isolation, and am a little worried about the quality etc. - I've heard about many "lemon" stories as you probably know yourself.

What are your thoughts?

The RP-DJ1200/1210's are a lot better than the SE-DJ5000
The build quality is a lot stronger and you can tell the quality with one touch and look.
SOund and isolation in the Technics is also better.

AND about these lemon hd-280's...??!??!!?! Is this true or just a myth? Because i am soon getting a pair and need a quick confirmatioN!!!

Although I'm not an expert on the subject, I know that some people have been getting "bad" HD-280 Pro's. Have a look:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showt...ennheiser+hd280

It only seems to affect a small fraction of the HD280 user base, but it's still there. I'm pretty sure it's a small chance though, so don't worry about it all too much.

Hold your horses - I'd like to hear Gluegun's views on this.

I think that this is a VERY GOOD reson to buy them from headphone.com. From what I hear, there are some pre-release models floating around that kind of suck... also, of you are having problems, try them on various sources, and give them a MAJOR burn in (ie, 100 hours at pretty high volumes...)
