i would not count on it.
we have the same problems in canada. The system is flawed due to the stress that the boomers will put on the system vs the ability to actually sustain the funds.
china does not have this problem because they do not give a fuck.

I was just being facetious. I fully expect to receive FUCK ALL from the government assuming it and I exist at the time. In fact, my understanding is that SS dollars go into some general fund which is already spent anyway. There is no Social Security deposit account, for example, holding this money and allowing it to accrue interest.

The thing is, America's decline in birth rate has not been as sharp as in other countries; we were still slightly above replacement rate even when the birth rate was lowest, while a number of European and Asian countries have not been. In addition, Americans are stingy and have social security programs with fewer benefits than those in many other countries.
But as I've already said, we have other big problems to deal with, like our crazy lending practices.

the birth rate is not as declined if you compare to 5 years ago...compare it to the 50's.
stingy or not, there is not enough so it essentially neutralizes your whole argument.
