Yes, I am bothered by that. I'm also bothered by the fact that people who are caught with weed are put in these same prisons, but that people who have defrauded thousands of people out of their life's savings are not.

And yes, record labels do have a propensity to manipulate and exploit their artists, but the artists are the one who sign those contracts.

I guess the threat of being imprisoned for pirated material doesn't specifically bother me, but the ramifications of something like this being passed definitely does.

I don't disagree overall, but if said labels are the only way to attain the success that a lot of artists are looking for, what are you to do? These labels are basically extorting the artists into something they would prefer to be different, but are unable to negotiate otherwise and have a contract.

Well they should have new laws for people who put that music out for others to share/download and kill this problem from its source rather than jump on normal people who just want to have it.......Would you kill the doctor for spreading the HIV or people who got infected by that HIV virus through the doctor.
