i personally am tired of him because he is not that good - he has gotten hugely popular making music that many here feel is just simple, tired, and samey. I really like faxing berlin and jaded but as time went on I saw that for the most part his songs consist of either retreads of faxing berlin or generic farty house which I already detested long before I knew the name deadmau5. (besides the Harder Better Faster Stronger Remix - thats still a fun track imo)
And then when he gets an essential mix he uses all his own tracks? not cool. Some of the angst in that thread was I think more a general disdain for how far the essential mix has fallen though, not just hating on the mau5. Sorry, but when Deadmau5 and Steve Aoki get an EM, it is no longer the 'Legendary' Essential mix.
as far as the hatred here on TA, i feel some are a little over the top by insulting him personally, but the fact remains that he is a one or two trick pony (very prolific, very good marketing, hardworking, etc) who makes for the most part pretty blah dance music, and people just rip on him because the music really is not worth the hype.
No offense, and there's stuff Deadmau5 has made in the past that I like, but for the most part I'm just tired of it. But like all fads there are stupid people who will go nuts for it, and more power to him making the music he likes and getting gigs and making $$. But here on TA we do not take kindly to sellouts, and that's why the hatred.
