What I'm talking about is the mythical experience of a DJ and a crowd constantly feeding off each other so you get some sort of symbiotic relationship where the DJ knows from the crowd exactly what to play next, every time. Some people would have you believe that it's the holy grail of being a DJ, but I can only see it happening in long-running residencies where the two sides have grown familiar over a long period.
