theres one more thing u have to think of.

hypothetically, say the establishment does frisking for weapons on entry. a patron get into a fight with another at said establishment and one of the 2 leaves and gets hold of a weapon, then waits outside for the other patron to leave and "takes care of" him/her outside, would you still blame the establishment?

The tools such as Raitt would and cause such a stir such as this.

(not directed at u Kristina..just generally)

better yet, a criminal code that actually that makes any assault with a weapon something that you'd not want to do. and a court system that actually puts away criminals in jail and keep them there. and a jail system that makes criminals wish they never committed that crime, instead of being pampered

fuck me if i'm only going to the pub for a pint, but instead i gotta be searched before i'm allowed to get in

You're all really pissing me off at the moment.

I lived at Front and Spadina for 3 years remember???? And there were numerous shootings. Hell, we couldn't even get the car out after Coxy because there was a shooting in the car park.

I am not suggesting knee jerk reactions to shootings but there has to be considerations in residential areas and as I said before, actions result in consequences.

Who knows what really happened that night, I am sure no-one knows EXACTLY what went on but the reality as far as we know is that an 'innocent bystander' was shot to death from stray bullets outside a dodgy pub in a residential area.

Perhaps wait for the findings of the investigations to be published before trolling the board with your 'oh woe is us in Toronto' bullshit.

If your point to sensationalism was just posting an article from a paper, I am surprised you're not quoting the whole of the World's Press.

Edit: And from what I can gather, the DOY would be no loss to the area anyway, this is really a shit place, not a perceived shit place from stick-up-the-arse politicians who don't understand EDM.

Choose your battles kiddies.

the root of gun crimes go deeper than one sketchy bar or club

as long as criminals think they can get away with totting guns in the public, these people will continue to use guns

living in downtown of any city of the world probably isn't the best option, if you're looking for a crime free residential area

good point
but then I think it's safe to say that the establishment is trying to promote a safe environment.. and that brings me back to the point that I don't think the establishment is solely responsible for the violance outside it's walls
the example of that poor girl shot down outside Eaton center backs that up too..

u can get assaulted by a weapon anywhere at anytime. the chances of it being random are so slim that the only cause really is the psychology of the assailant. with this in mind, its rather unnerving to blame an establishment just because of a few that visit.

can u do a psychological test on patrons as they enter to see if theres going to be trouble? no

shut it down!!! seems quite reasonable? i guess to several it does

I agree with you there

btw I had a shooting on my street a month ago (Yonge and Alexander), a guy just started randomly shooting on the street aiming at 2 other people... who to blame? only the idiot that carried that gun!

Exactly so before you open your mouth and attempt to want to close everything you "think" is a threat, wait and find out what really happened before making a terrible mistake in blaming the pub for the death. I'm sorry there is no logic in your argument, technically if your right then every establishment that is around danger should be shut down. It shouldn't be shut down but more investigated to see if the establishment aggravated this or had nothing to do with it. IMO i think Canada should do exactly what Britain does, BAN HANDGUNS. We don't need them, ETF does and some police officers do in some cases. Shutting down another establishment is not going to make this place safer, but getting that psycho behind bars will. I believe he turned himself in, no?

here's an idea:

maybe you could wait for the investigation to be completed before YOU are whining about people whining?
