It's not a breast cancer event, it's all cancer. The pink ribbon symbolized breast, but it's for all... right across the board.
If you are offended by wording, I apologize. I speak from the heart, I speak from experience. If I said THE.. instead of "one of the" i apologize for the slip of tongue, I don't want to get into a game of your dad's disease is worse then my mom's disease... Its hard to lose people, regardless the disease, mine is on cancer cause it affects 1-5, the third biggest killer and considering i'm in the biggest colon cancer family in Canada (check it up, medical records yo) i decided to do something about it.
but this is a roll call, something I always keep an eye out as it really hypes me up as we dawn on the event, so let's just leave it with me apologizing, I, should have added "one of", I forget how ferocious tranceaddict can be.

Colon cancer is one of my fathers's cancers. The pink ribbons in the flyer symbolize breast cancer, and not clear for cancer in general. Sorry if I sounded negative, but it hit close to home. My thoughts were not to put down the event, as I'm friends with most of you, and you all know me better... it's a very touchy subject I agree.

Dance 2 Da Beat's money gets donated to Princess Margaret and Cancer Society. My mother passed of lung, my brother had colon, i've had cancer polyps removed before....
if u look at the ribbon, it's not that of breast cancer, little darker, different design. I use the ribbon cause it's represents the memory in which it stands for, I choose pink because it's soft, it's an event that's not suppose to be dark, more of a celebration. I wanted to connect it to the disease without being overbearing of it.
No where do I ever mention breast cancer is one of the worst cancers, i speak of the disease itself, as you know, as I know.... if you watch someone go through it, it's satan's work. Let's just leave it at that.
Death is a sensitive subject as a whole, as are all illnesses.... however, it's part of life. So we can argue over a message board... about what's sensitive, what's this or what's that...
or, do something about it.
I'm deciding to do something about it.
Maybe it gives me closure, maybe I feel I'm helping my neices, my future kids who have a 50 % chance of inheriting my hnpcc gene. It's possible, what I do know is this... I do it for my reason, my cause.. for this event to work, people have to do it for themselves, for their love ones.
Since starting this event... people share with me their family cancer stories all the time. At the beginning, all it did was remind me of my mom... took a while to realize that me listening was helping them cope, they speaking to someone else who's gone through it. I didn't really have that, now, I'm so happy and proud I can be that person for others.
If you ever been to a D2DB, you know the event's vibe is different. I'm not saying that because it's my event (at this point, it's the community event... hell, Rachel, Katy, Barb, JonJon, Nada, Tommy, Justin... tons of TA's from this board have assisted in the event. DJ's give their time... that in itself, is something to celebrate. It's for a GREATER good.... a cause that affects many of us, well, pretty much all of us at some point in time dude.
You got offended cause you thought I was talking about breast cancer over colon cancer? Dude. Cancer is Cancer. It's brutal for everyone who gets hit by it. I'm not speaking propaganda friend, I'm speaking from the heart...
I write how I talk, how I feel... I say what I mean and mean what I say dood... no fluff coming from me. Next time, why not hit me up on a private message and question my comment, instead on a roll call for an event that means the world to me.
