actually.....
they said they don't record live sets (as in they don't hit the record button before dj sets) because they're usually really drunk and scared of what they sound like afterwards....and that they recorded their essential mix in advanced (like almost every other dj thats on essential mix)

Fuck it... like the article says, most is prerecorded and set before the show like most electronic shows. They mentioned Daft Punk having everything set before hand too...
I think it depends on wether or not they are faking a live PA or live DJ'n...
Live PA, I can see, they most of those kids out there are there just to listen and see and nu-rave and like the said, making live music on the fly which is almost exactly or similar to the albums on which thier fanbase buy's and came to hear is hard ... the fans, they don't care or won't know if they are just tweaking around on knobs.
Plus, these guys are like rockstars now, they play almost every night, same thing, they put on a show, they're gonna get bored, gonna take some short cuts. Some may say they are short cutting thier fans, but they're getting the job done and pleasing the crowd (For the most part). For you all you know this this show coulda been a sunday or something in a smaller town after they just played a huge venue on sat night in Chicago or something. They may have been up for 48 hours, or hungover as fuck!
Faking live DJ'n bothers me tho, but same idea, pleasing a crowd that is there just to listen and see some showmanship, and wouldn't even know if the highs are to high, or the beat was just off a tad. It's annoying to see DJ's tweaking and playing with the EQ knobs on a channel that is not even up or has anything going through it. Or like when I saw Fedde Le Grande go apeshit on a CDJ pretending he was moving the platter, slapping the cue and play buttons but the CD was half ejected and sitting there not even inserted. But 95% of the people there who had no idea this was happening seemed to love it tho..
And it's better than copying, I would rather see someone fake playing thier own music than ripping off other people's work and passing it off as thier own.
Justice still owns...
