It depends...some people like it and some people seem to hate it. One thing I've noticed is that most (and by most, I mean 9 out of 10) people who voice their hate for the show have never seen a full episode before or never began watching the show from the first episode in the first place.
I began watching around the time Season 3 ended. A friend of mine kept telling me to watch it so I watched the pilot on the internet and was hooked. I went on and bought the S1 DVDs the next day and watched those like in a week or so. I immediately went to buy the S2 DVDs the next day and the same with S3. I religiously downloaded the S4 episodes as soon as they hosted them on Ninjavideo.net (awesome site btw). I've recommended the show to several other people and not a single one of them has said "I fucking hated it". They all got as hooked as I got.
I don't know if you're going to enjoy it or not, but experience tells me that you most likely will. So I say go out and rent S1 and see for yourself

How can you hate on Lost and recommend that utter pile of garbage known as Prison Break? That show has the stupidest, shallowest characters ever. And don't even get me started on the script writing.

true, i also found people that have watched some of it might say they don't like it because they don't understand it.

ya its the weakest out of the ones i mentioned. But ITS MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCh better than lost.
i forgot to add stargate sg1. also a good LOONG ass series.

Lost is probably the single greatest television program ever made.
When I rented the first season on DVD, I watched 24 41min. episodes in less than 2 days.
