legal is less, club can fit more than 320 though.

there have been nights when over 500 have come through the doors.

500 is still far less than the what 1300 of the boa space?

Granted, I loved what they did with that space in the old days, and I'd love to see an underground venue back at that location, I just don't see it happening.

I tend to (mostly) agree.

best thing i like about footwork is the vibe. club is full but not demented crowded, so vibe is good

move footwork to bigger place and don't get the place full, i dunno if the same vibe will be there.

plus moving to a new space is not quite as same as the old place

if it works, then don't try to fix it

Thats what I am thinking.... that was one of the main reasons I had only a 'so-so' time at the Platform halloween techno party was because the place was so empty... if it woulda been at FW it woulda been a different story for sure.

Boa/Sonic is too big of a space for Footwork. When you have a spot as big as Boa, but can only pull in 320 on your "rammed" nights - the club still feels empty and hampers the vibe.

I like that Footwork can bring in great DJs that might not be able to pull 500-600+ in Toronto, and still have a vibe that feels off the hook - when in a bigger place, it'd feel a bit flat and under attended.

As much as I like say, Chris Leibing - he has a big enough draw to reasonably fill footwork, but would leave a space as big as Boa feeling a bit barren.

I'm with everyone else who says Footwork is great how it is.

It's the perfect size for the DJs they bring in. A bigger club would require bigger-name DJs, who often disappoint, leading to:

The DJs they bring in are often-times BETTER than most of the big-name draws the bigger clubs are forced to bring in.

The crowd is small so it doesn't take long to get to recognize and meet the weekly and bi-weekly regulars.

I love that it's 'hidden' in an alley, that alone adds to the vibe.

It seems to be a club that's for people who are 'in the know' and that's the way I like it. People go for the music and a good time, they don't go to bump K and hump the bass speaker while sketchin out to the sik-lazars!!!

Long live Footwork!

Footwork's intimate atmosphere is perfect for most of it's bookings; techno and deep progressive suits the place well. With that being said, I can't imagine the footwork crowd and sound in the Sonic/Boa space. I can only imagine that big space being used for tribal and prog. It just doesn't make sense to me.

First time I heard Tony Rohr was at Boa, I think that was his first time in Toronto - killer night musically, but the 'vibe' wasn't there. Still danced my ass off though, and found that back then he played a bit on the harder/chunkier side of things then what he does now. Mmm, good night
