Wait, what? There are numerous essential mixes that were recorded broadcast live from events at 3 in the morning.
Like everyone said, it depends on the show. A lot of bigger online stations do pre-recorded, just because its easier to manage that way, but there are still a lot of live shows out there on the smaller stations.
FM radio is live a lot of times, beyond the canned ones for big names, or if they are coming from a place where live isnt possible (like an EM from Australia or someplace half way around the globe).
Also DJ's, especially big name ones, spin every single night for the most part, or at least a majority of the nights in a week. DJ'n is a tough gig, doing a radio show in the comfort of a studio is probably a welcome break for some.
