In a post you said you were using a mouse and a keyboard, for what? DVS, Ableton?

Enjoyed the dark side better because of my personal musical tastes, but I feel you excelled in the light portion. The dark side seemed a bit...forced? Like you were struggling to get some nice tracks to fit together. The overall concept worked though, did you plan a dark to light theme or did the name come to you after?

I did exactly what denys envy did on the first transition. I heard it and had to rewind because something just seemed off.

Flow throughout the set was consistent, with some nice peaks here and there. Like someone previously stated I think your transitions need to start a bit sooner. Energy really dies down when your incoming track is still in its basic "thud thud thud" stage.

Enjoyed it, looking forward to the next.

Thanks for the review Chris, It feels very nice to hear this kind of comments because it means that I'm doing something right and that the hard work, the effort, and the time I've been putting into this is paying off and I'm one step closer to getting to where I want to get skill-wise.

You have no idea how pleased I am at the fact that my track selection and flow have been getting such compliments. I think that one of the major lessons I learned from 'Tones' was to keep a consistent flow while being much more diverse on my selections. I think there was only one comment regarding that aspect, but it really made me think and I'm glad I took the advice

I will definitely look into the "mixing earlier" tips I've been getting. I listened to Denys' mix in the car on the way to my girlfriend's house and I was REALLY able to see (or hear, actually lol) what he meant. I notice that he is able to match the incoming melody of the incoming track after the intro at just the right time before the outgoing track goes "thud thud thud" (in Alex's words )

Yeah, you really have to dig to find nice prog these days. Seems that everyone is producing tech house or techno these days, which I do enjoy but I do miss the soulful prog of the old days. Check out some of Sam's and Chris's mixes (kadomony and cmay119), they are filled with nice new prog house that I think you will enjoy

Thanks for listening Alex, I think this strays a bit from what you usually listen to judging by your own mixes, and I'm glad you were able to enjoy it. One of the things I tried with this one was to try to appeal to a much broader audience by bringing more variety to the track selection

I've been using Traktor to make my mixes, I took a shot at an Ableton demo a while back but I couldn't really get into it. I really like the layout and feel of Traktor and feel very comfortable using it.

Regarding the transition into "The Case", I tried several different ways to mixing it but none of them sounded just right. I really like the way the two tracks sound one after the other and the only way I found to mix them without having the vocals of "The Case" clash with the outro of "Eleven" was that way.

Hey Oscar, just finshed listening to your mix this morning and I really enjoyed it. What I really enjoyed was the first 30 minutes of your mix. It showed the diversity of tracks that you had, compared to Tones which was basically more Anjunadeep style tracks. I liked the feel of these tracks in particuar becuase they were very loungy and laidback type deep and tech house. Although on the the other hand at the end of the mix you brought in the heavy hitters just like you did in Tones which was brillant. I'm looking foward to more sets bro! Overall , great job!

Actually, I did plan to start with the deeper, techier stuff and move into the more progressive, lighter stuff. But I hadn't come up with a name for the mix just yet. It all came together when I found the artwork

Finally I got a chance to listen to this

From the technical side of things, like someone else said your mixes are sometimes too late . Beatmatching was ok overall

Going to track selection beacause thats whats important. First half is that kind of techy deep house like a lot of djs plays these days so if youre going to go this road youre not gonna stand out from the crowd in my opinion. Second half is more proggy melodic house. I like that kind of house better but that part consits too many well known tracks, my advice would be to dig deeper in finding your music. Summing up set is good but not a stuff that I would return to more than twice

PS. Actually I was hoping you would go in the direction of house with some funky "discoish" elements, but if you feel better in this techy/deep house thats fine, most important thing is to play what you like

All I can say is that I loved it just as much as everything else you've mixed, not more, but certainly not less.
I wasn't that much into the beginning, but it just kept getting better and better by the minute.

And then it ended

Definitely a keeper, next time make it 4hrs... or 8!
