2. I had a concussion when i was 12 years old, in a coma for a couple days (maybe this causes nightmares?) |
This one is interesting. When I was a kid I had nightmares basically every night. Very vivid ones....still vivid in my mind today.
But when I was 11...I was in an incident where I almost died, was in a short coma, sever concussion, in the hospital for a long time, etc....
Anyhow, since that incident, I am unable to remember dreams, except for one exception.... I can wakeup sometimes and know if I'll know if I had a good dream or bad dream (usually bad if I remember any feeling from it), but I cannot remember any specific detail. I'll even think I can but when I go to remember it's a big blank.
The only exception, and this will sound odd, is that I will, although very rare, have the same dream over and over and over for a number of weeks...every night. The exact same dream. Where it get's crazy is that when I have these, it's usually an event involved with me, and then an incident that is similar to my dream happens in real life. Totally bizarre and I don't even want to get into it on here...it's hard to believe.

have you sought to interpret meaning from your nightmares? are they the same every time or are they distinctive? |
I went on some website to see the meaning of certain dreams, but it was really vague. All my dreams are different and very vivid, although I have a few reoccurring dreams (but different scenarios)
| quote: | | Originally posted by R!CH is there a recurring theme? |
Here are the reoccurring dreams in no particular order(don't laugh lol):
1. Tornado
2. Tidal wave
3. Earth quake
4. Demons/satan
5. Airplane crashing (while I'm either in it, or just a few blocks away from it)
6. UFO's in the sky (these ones are usually really colorful)
7. Water levels in ocean rapidly/dangerously rising
8. friends betraying me
9. Losing my boyfriend because of a natural disaster (ie earthquake, tidal wave etc)
10. Calling 911 for a life or death emergency, but they put me on hold or don't even answer my call at all
| quote: | | Originally posted by R!CH are you an observer in them or do you have control? |
No, I don't have control of them at all. Sometimes I'm able to wake myself up though, because the nightmare gets so intense (ie, I'm about to die because of a tidal wave)

I have a really good imagination. I get scared of scary movies really easily (if that counts lol).
| quote: | | Originally posted by R!CH and when you had a concussion, how severe was the brain swelling and where was it? if the swelling damaged your amygdala/frontal limbic system, there could be a connection... |
I'm not sure how severe the swelling was or what part of the brain. It was pretty bad though. I would have to contact my old insurance and see if I can get record of it. But regardless of that, my so-called "doctor" said my brain is "ok" in a recent MRI they did.
