not really, think about it.. Christianity has so many divisions, they are separate from muslims who have 2 divisions i think. |
Incorrect. Sufism could count as another 'major' branch. As well, there are many 'schools of thought' on how to interpret the Quran which is kind of like Protestant denominations. (Izmailism, Hanafi, Wahhabism, etc)
| quote: | | then they all are different from jews.. |
even Judaism has different schools of thought
| quote: | | it keeps going.. all in all- we are one.. we are all human.. to divide is just fuckin stupid. everyone just keeps thinking they are different and it creates so many problems.. totally unnecessary |
because people are different, in that humanity allows for different ways of thinking. how to life. have different sets of morals, etc.
while one should never forget that we are all humans, and part of the humanity family, i'd never expect everyone to be same as me. that'd be just weird
there is nothing wrong with religion. at it's core concept, it's just a guide of how people should live. just like philosophy.
but it's always those that seeks to use religion for own purposes that creates problems.
for example. muslim fundamentalists and their concept of 'jihad'. specifically, Al Qaeda (feel free to correct me, dear muslim friends)
the word jihad means some sort of personal struggle within one self to become a better muslim, or a true holy war in defence of islam, which you need to be a Koranic authority (ie scholars (ulema), clerics, etc of reputation) AQ is not made out of religious scholars or clerics.
then there are rules, even if a true jihad is called in Koran
-you cannot attack and kill who have offered no offence or harm you
-you cannot kill women and children
-you cannot take hostages and mistreat torture or kill prisoners
and the fact that these terrorists killed more muslims than the 'infidels' is another thing
(all taken from a book. i'm not that smrt)
I bet you there are many people who look at AQ/Taliban and other muslim extremists and that's the only example of 'Islam' they see and assume that all muslims are like the extremists.
But it is important to separate the acts of the followers of the religion and what the religion specifically, esp when the followers do acts that are against what the religion says.
even the most 'peaceful' religions such as Buddhism has history of persecution (Central Asia around 15th century) soit is important to distinguish between the religion and the followers.
there are many wisdom that can be found in religion. i would not dismiss it so easily
