This is really cool. Loved every single track in this mix. I only knew a few of the artists like Itamar Sagi, and I was really surprised with the sheer quirkiness you've achieved, especially with the earlier tracks. This did a great job grabbing my interest from the outset; too many mixes are slow to pick up.

The flow is beautiful; love your concentration on atmospheric tracks about half way through; so many lush pads.

The mixing is pretty pleasing; you've stayed true to the genre by using long slow fades and your beatmatching was absolutely flawless, but I think you could be a little more inventive. Some of the fades were a little bit obvious. Even though at the 38:06 mark there is a funny small error, the transition and bass line switch at 38:22 was my favourite; it sounded great.

How many gigs are you getting currently? You said in another thread that you mainly play lounges, and for the start of a night I have to say that this stuff would really get me jonesing for the main event.

Great work, I look forward to the next one!

what a gorgeous review!

first of all - thank you. second of all - yes some of my mixing gets predictable and obvious. i usually do my mixes on 2 decks and love playing out on 3 - so my live sound is a little bit more varied. nothing like floating between two deep house tracks with a Radioslave tune in the background. hopefully i can record something live soon to showcase that.

i play lounges. but i take months off at a time to focus on acting. for example i'm doing a play now (and have been since late november - rehearsals and stuff). but my last performance is feb 1st after which i'm already discussing with peeps in the area about playing.

usually i come in (just as you surmised) at the beginning of the night (9-9:30) and set up the crowd for the next two hours for the more electro/prog DJs.

if i get to play the whole night i do that myself. play this kind of stuff for 2-2.5 hours and move into more progressive stuff (don't really fuck with too much electro).

but it's mainly lounges. baltimore doesn't have that many big clubs (just one that really matters and its afterhours). some are bigger some are smaller. most of the time you can expect a crowd of 50-75 - but i love it because all of them know what they're doing and why they're there. beats having them than some 200 odd mother******s with no clue why they showed up other than to show themselves off or to pick up a girl or to get shitfaced at this club. etc.

i'm satisfied and now looking to move into producing/editing and making my sets more personal. i love my collection but really want to add a bit 'denys envy' flavor with edits. so many times i've heard a song and was like "i need to cut that out and put this here". so i'm trying to learn how to do that now in ableton. and hopefully some production after that... but enough about me.

I had a listen a little earlier and thought it was nice. I liked the track selection.

Alright Denys, I finally had the time to listen to this one. That first track was a really sick intro. When that droning bassline came in, I got goosebumps up my neck, lol. The transition into Valve was ace, I had to listen to that a couple of times to realize you were actually onto track two there, or if the elements of the first track were just changing.

The flow of this mix as a whole is really quite exceptional. It stayed on point without getting boring. Something that I really wish to improve upon on my own mixes. As usual for you, beatmatching, volume control, eq'ing all the technical stuff was buttery smooth.

I'm going to have to agree with, Oscar. I'd really like to hear a longer mix from you. Though, I hear where you're coming from with trying to get gigs. You don't want to be giving a promoter a 2-3hour mix.

Well done, mate.

Really looking forward to your next one.
