I had this problem to, a long time ago though! It's seems like everyone is experiencing the famous humming problem .
I found out the problem lied in the power connections. My monitors where humming when I had them connected to the same powerbox as I did my computer. So basicly when I connected my monitors to another powerbox, the problem was solved.

It could also be a ground problem though!

I have this, and I just got a ground lifter. The way my studio and desk are wired, it is somewhat of a nightmare, but I think my computer monitor of all things is causing the buzz, since my mixer started doing it at the same time as when I got my new monitor

Maybe that's why Svenson and Gielen named The Beauty of Silence as such, 'cause they fixed their humming monitors.

Had the same problem. Didnt read through the replys so not sure if this was mentioned, but you need to lift the ground.

I use two of these, one for each monitor:

Never had this before, I do have subwoofer crackling though, due to my use of Creative Labs monitors....

SHIT PROBLEMS BACK!

now im running balanced cables, cables separetad from powercables etc etc and im on Mac Mini which I didnt have the problem with before. Spooky. Though when putting out the screen power 90% of it disapears. Fucking Samsung screen.

So are there any recomended noise-filters on AC around to put in serie with my outlets? I could separate MAC+Screen+External HDs on one and speakers, soundcard on another one. Anyone tried? Bet its expensive.

Get an "on-line" UPS battery back up. It cleans up AC power, converts it to DC, then, all your devices run off the battery. The UPS takes the juice from the battery and converts it back to A/C. However this time, the A/C power's waves are nearly perfect. It's cheap too (sarcasm): http://www.provantage.com/apc-surta...2u~7AMP91J6.htm

That will solve your A/C noise problems... from your utility power... which will allow you to....

As a fun experiement try putting just your monitor on the UPS and your other devices on un-filtered utility power.

Or buy a different monitor! One that doesn't suck.

:-/

Oh another idea. Just put your monitor on a seperate circuit entirely! Go to a hardware store and get some 12/2 wire and wire another receptacle in your studio from say... your kitchen circuit or something... and plug only your monitor into that!

Isolated ground is fun too... for your audio gear... make your OWN ground, get some decent guage wire and attach it to a chunk of rebar and pound it into the ground. Then ground all your devices off of that! A true ground! With no other devices on it.

Happy Mother's Day,

Adam

Similar problems for me too. The issue was more of a filtered white noise though. Once I had put the PC and the monitors & mixer on a seperate surge protected extension lead all was well. But I had the speakers replaced under warranty anyway, just in case the issue was something in the units and not the way I had plugged them in.

Kit:

Alesis M1 520's Active
Behringer Xeynx 1002 mixer
Balanced TRS cables
Phono to TRS cable direct out of soundcard to mixer
