Because prohibition in the 20s worked so well by stopping drinking. I dont believe that organized crime was a big problem before the 20s and the reason is is that rum running gave them a huge new source of revenue which is the reason they ended prohibition. The same thing would happen with smokes and already kind of is. Natives and organized crime are already involved in counterfeiting, smuggling and procuring of illegal tobacco as a response to the obscene social engineering taxes on a pack of smokes. And trust me, they are making a fortune.

somehow i think they would actually live longer LOL
How do greeks live so long when they smoke like chimneys day in and out. Seriously somebody needs to rethink this smoking thing.
Im more worried about asbestos, lead paint and bus fumes than i ever have been about a cigarette

Cigarette smoke contains over 4,000 chemicals, including 43 known cancer-causing (carcinogenic) compounds and 400 other toxins. These include nicotine, tar, and carbon monoxide, as well as formaldehyde, ammonia, hydrogen cyanide, arsenic, and DDT.
Nicotine is highly addictive. Smoke containing nicotine is inhaled into the lungs, and the nicotine reaches your brain in just six seconds.
Nicotine in small doses acts as a stimulant to the brain. In large doses, it's a depressant, inhibiting the flow of signals between nerve cells. In even larger doses, it's a lethal poison, affecting the heart, blood vessels, and hormones. Nicotine in the bloodstream acts to make the smoker feel calm.
As a cigarette is smoked, the amount of tar inhaled into the lungs increases, and the last puff contains more than twice as much tar as the first puff. Carbon monoxide makes it harder for red blood cells to carry oxygen throughout the body. Tar is a mixture of substances that together form a sticky mass in the lungs.
Most of the chemicals inhaled in cigarette smoke stay in the lungs. The more you inhale, the better it feels—and the greater the damage to your lungs.
I know I dont want to be breathing in that shit

[quote]thats the thing you are not getting. Not everyone in the world is smart enough to do that. Again why "big brother" steps in to do something about it. There shouldn't be any laws in this world. But because we are not that bright there has to be law. Or else there would be mass chaos. |
I DO GET IT. The parent has the right to decide if a) it truly is a problem and b) whether or not they wish to address it.
More and more it sounds like you support giving up your children to the government until 18 since "not everyone in the world is smart enough". Because of course, the government is smart enough and you arent. Right?

I say we ban pigeons. They crap all over my balcony and pigeon poo is a health hazard. If we pass a law banning pigeons, it will solve the problem immediately and all our pigeon problems will be over. Any pigeon caught illegally breaking the pigeon ban will be subject to a $300 fine. It may not work entirely and enforcement will be a problem. But if it stops even just one pigeon from deficating on my balcony then it is worth it!
Support the pigeon ban. Let's show Toronto that we actually care about making it a better place for everyone!
