Oh, it was definitely bad karma, Fay. Can you imagine how many kittens died because of her pictures on the net?

It depends. There are both public and private hospitals available, but I really think she must've gone to a public hospital, given the fact that she's in Espírito Santo and there's just one big city there...
I don't think the government is going to foot the bill, though, as it already costed her an arm and a leg... but, I can't really put my finger on it

That's fucking terrible. Even worse how barbaric the medicine practice still is that doctors have no solution but to resort to amputation. Reminds me of the psychological practice of pre-frontal lobotomy that was considered a "solution" some 50 years ago. What virus was this anyway???

Thanks. First paragraph in wikipedia says:
quote:
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a commonly occurring bacterium that can cause diseases in both animals and humans. It is found throughout the world where there is soil and is found in both soil and water and in most man-made environments. It thrives in normal atmospheres but can also thrive where there is little oxygen, which enables it to colonise many natural and artificial environments. It uses a wide range of organic material for food and, in animals, this means that damaged tissues or people with reduced immunity can become infected with the organisms. The symptoms of such infection are generalised inflammation and sepsis. If such colonisations occur in critical body organs such as the lungs or the urinary tract and kidney, the results can be very damaging and potentially fatal[1]. Because it thrives on moist surfaces, it is also found on and in medical equipment including catheters and this can be the cause of cross infections in hospitals and clinics. It is also implicated in the condition "hot-tub rash" - a form of dermatitis associated with poor hygiene and low maintenance of hot tubs.
Maybe I misread this, but does this mean that this is in organic food, like that crap hippies eat from Whole Foods, which boasts "this liquid has HEALTHY bacteria that are GOOOOOD for you."...? I am not liking organic food right now. McDonalds FTW!

You misread it Jake. It says "it uses a wide range of organic material for food".
