The last EG is the overall EG and the first one is who knows what, never heard of PEG before.

PEG is the Pitch Envelope Generator - it is obviously hardwired to pitch. The Amp Envelope is hardwired to the overall shape of the sound. The other 6 envelopes are freely assignable to any destination using the mod matrix. Like the oscillators and LFOs, you don't have to use all 6, just use the one(s) you want, ignore the rest. Very simple.

Heh, you want a synth that is complicated, Open FM8. The path doesn't even follow a logical order. And all the aspects are on different pages, like filters, evn, oscs etc etc.

Matter of fact, now that i look at it, i cannot even find a filter on FM8..does it even have one?

Somehow this guy managed to figure it out and made a pretty good audio demo out : http://www.adamszabo.com/mp3/Adam_Van_Baker_z3ta%2B_Soundset_Preset_Demo.mp3

i can't belive that this guy produce very cool trance with a creative inspire and a simple pc

my opinion is:
is not the great instrument that makes a good sound but the artist's skill

No. Most FM synths, including the DX-series, did not have filters. Similarly, the "filter" in FM8 is not your traditional resonant analog-style filter either. Actually, I believe it's just a 2-pole cutoff that is only available to the X-operator. But, I'm definitely no expert with that synth. Blue is a much easier FM synth to wrap my head around.

Yeah, I didn't think so, since the whole idea of "filtering" is to subtract frequencies and FM synthesis is basically an additive method.

Virus TI

I'm starting a new job this week (that pays wayyy better) and I've decided to make a "virus jar".

I'm gonna throw 50-100 bucks in there every week and maybe by summer I can get one, or I may decide to go with a Nord a few months earlier. Nord sounds beautiful but the virus has the ability to put a special "character stamp" in even simple sounds like plucks.

Nord makes nice plucks, but they still sound lost, like they don't know who they belong to.
You hear a virus pluck and you know that pluck belongs to a virus. (a good one)

..this thread was about hardware right?
