I'm really pleased to get this kind of response on this, guys.
A big part of putting this together was me finally deciding I've taken enough time off from really pursuing gigging (real life beckoning, personal/family drama, health issues, etc.) and trying to develop a musical relationship with a place close to home where I really felt comfortable, and like I would be working with people who were on the same page as I. The owner really does have a knack for knowing what his clients want, and has done a good job of keeping a good percentage of his sound in the realm of commercial club stuff, which is a real benefit to someone like me trying to take it a little deeper.
In that sense, it's very much me trying for continue to forge my own sound while also trying to introduce that sound to a venue/audience on a pretty regular basis, with the obvious hope being finding the balance between the deep stuff and the clubby stuff, and having a mutually beneficial relationship borne out of the dynamic.
I'll say this much, it's rare that I've ever heard DJ's playing commercial club music with hip-hop (surprisingly good hip hop) that I really, really enjoyed - and even more rare that I'd say I think I'd do just fine opening up and closing down (playing 7 or 8 to 10 or 11, then 1 to close) for them, but that's definitely how I feel about both the current Fri./Sat. residents.
Anyway - bit of a rant there, but yeah - truly glad you guys are digging this. Makes me pretty satisfied to have you all, as well as the club owners/clientele really enjoying it.
Feels like victory.
Edit: Oh, and last Saturday one of the residents played about an hour and a half of EPIC classic Chicago/French house and Detroit techno. I never thought I'd ever hear anyone play "The Bells" in Appleton fucking Wisconsin.
Wow. What the fuck.
