Im a fan of tyas, his songs just get me in the mood for a bit of a jiggle on the dancefloor! hehe

With people saying he always uses the same sounds, I would agree that he does seem to have a set palette that he chooses from, but couldnt you argue the same sort of thing about classical music ? they only use say piano, strings, bass, violin etc... but dont hear people in the audience complaining that they wish there was a supersaw in there or something, or maybe a 303 in the background! lol

It's really odd to see people get so much praise simply for churning out tracks that sound basically identical to the trance that was produced a few years before they came on the scene -- with the addition of a harder kick.

People like what they like. You are in no position to frown upon that bojingles. Sorry not every song in the universe is groundbreaking in some way.

He does have good production skills, no doubt about that. But he uses those skills to make the same thing over and over again, which is pretty boring I think...

Bro, you are missing the point. Sure he makes the same thing over again. But he does it with a huge kick with an obnoxiously large frequency range that wouldn't fit unless he abused sidechain compressors.

If that's not good music...

Who even cares if he does the same thing everytime, the guy sells a lot of records, earns a lot of money and most important he has fun in what he's doing. If you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Even more interesting that the same members who trash Tyas, also ask questions about rollin basslines hate Mau5, Tiesto and Armin, but NEVER post any of their won work here

Maybe we should start a Trance Addicts "Sandbox" and "Pro" section to filter all this crap?

as said before, i think people are split into 2 categories, the ones who are compelled by a track for the unique sounds in it and there are those who are compelled by the composition. and tyas's melodies and chord progressions are unreal nearly every time imo.

i think someone mentioned earlier about classical music only using the same sounds over and over but it is still loves by millions. the same with indie music, u have guitars, drums and maybe a keyboard in there and there will always be there in every track but no one is asking these bands why they arent using new sounds cos its about the song not the sounds.
