PV is a running a business... not a good deed.
He can charge what ever he think is competitive and fits in the market.
And what he is charging is really REALLY reasonable for music lessons. My brother pays 25/hr for his guitar lessons.

And you dont need to be famous to teach.. you just need skill and like PV said... the proof is in the pudding.

I like that he wants to get the community involved and I like that he is teaching kids he passion. I like that this is another thing to keep kids out of trouble and will lead to Torontos future Djs...

Yeah, I'd say "good deed" is a bit of a stretch, though I do place a lot of emphasis on the theraputic aspect of DJing - how it improves focus and hand-eye coordination, the meditative aspect of getting lost in the music, etc. - great for young'uns with Youtube attention spans.

I would say it's safe to say that most of my students don't have aspirations of making it big, and I certainly do not try to instill that in them, as it tends to detract from the fact that this is something that's meant to be FUN.

In the end, I'm just a launching pad for people who are looking to get in touch with both their creativity and inner rhythm - often no easy feat when we live in a society that has us up in our heads considerably more than down in our bodies. I do ask for regular feedback from my students, and all of them seem to be enjoying themselves so far - that's the goal, so I'm happy.

I just want to know if the kids hes marketing towards know that they will be spending a week learning how to spin techno music. I mean I might only speak for myself here but I didnt get into electronica into I was well into my older teenage years like 18 and started enjoying sneaking into over 19 clubs. before (which i believe like the majority of teens) I wasinto rock and hip hop or whatever was ctachy on the radio.

I mean I would venture to guess that the majority of the kids wanting to take dj lessons dpn't look up to dj's like preach or armin or whoever the fuck. The look more up to djs like dj quik, dj funkmaster flex etc. lets admit it with teenagers nowadays hip hop djs run their lives and these are the ppl they look up too. I want to know what is your marketing plan to get kids into ur front door who enjoy electronica????

or are u just saying dj lessons and wethere the kid wants to scratch som 50 cent or play some techno he really has no choice?

or are you willing to let them spin what they like? and if so if you are a techno dj how are you supposed to teach these kids how to spin hip hop? (i know the fundamentals are the same, but it deffinately takes a different ear)

one doesnt have to be an amazing dj/musician to teach...teachers usually arent the most practical in their fields but have the patience and knowledge to impart on students which makes them a good teacher and thats all one needs to learn..

well give me 350 bucks a week ill keep ur kids of the street and kick the shit out of them twice a day. keeps em off the streets yo......whast so bad abt the streets anyways? I grew up playing on them

btw i doubt any kids listening to armin and other fairy music at teh age of 13 needs to get off the streets. any kid listening to trance and techno at the age of 13-15 lives a pretty sheltered life in the first place

helping out the community would actually be getting street kids off the street to teach them a passion of theirs. I dont think hes targeting street kids when the price is 380 bucks for 1 week. thats alot of tim hortons cups to fill full of nickels
