I got into Ophidian back in the day for a little while. Never went anywhere from there.

hell even

has quite a bit of artistic value and thats speedcore.

+theres tons of great hardcore tracks I've heard in DNB sets. Regardless of the average quality, theres definitely some decent stuff out there.

Also

Which is dark gabber apparently, looks a lot like hardstyle, only its actually good.

I was thinking more of stuff like this:

and this:

Basically that early stuff which was dubbed hardcore techno because it was harder than anything techno had to offer at the time. It was quite innovative and interesting at the beginning. Later, the genre embraced some cheap tricks and gimmicks like hoover sound, shouting etc. and every new track had to be huger than the last one so it naturally went to shit. Just like any other genre out there...

there are a few good tracks that come out here and there. Guigoo - Arikiki came out in 2008 and it has a nice quirky flavour like a lot of the old stuff. Agreed that it's generally shit now, though. My biggest complaint about hardstyle is how much the tempo has been dropped -- real hardcore is played at drum & bass tempos and higher, not 140 bpm IMO

Yup. For all the harshness and brutality of it, it is actually one of the most straight forward tunes he has ever done. It has the same steel factory/subway train feel as Polygon Window - Quoth.

The original is still better, though. That Marc Acardipane made it in 1989 is simply staggering.

I never could understand someone actually could love something like this. Translated the track is call something like "horrible noise":

On the other hand, this I could imagine someone liked. Also I thought many hardcore tracks were funny.
I guess many Tiesto and Armin haters will love the first track below

Always been into basically all of those genres. Also, I can relate to all of the time periods - modern and old school. I fancy industrial, dark stuff like Sand Leaper does. More specifically - The Outside Agency, Armageddon Project, Ophidian (and his other project Ophidian as Raziel), Negative-A, Synapse, Peaky Pounder, Manu Le Malin, etc.

The Outside Agency are definitely my favorites.

Also, there is a lot more depth to the music than some people think. Surely, this is subjective but I can tell you that it's possible. The industrial stuff has a pretty powerful concept, just like illbient and noise, it is (at least to me) an audial depiction of post-apocalyptic scenarios. A barren, metallic and cold landscape, basically.

Armageddon Project - Insecure Opponents
The Outside Agency - Submerger
Dual Mechanism - Almost Human
Negative A - White Fluids of DNA (lol)
Broken Rules - 8 Bit Racket
Eye-D - Fucking Ants
Mainframe - M-Viruz
Enzyme X - Dissonant Poetry
Enzyme X - The Rosy-lipped Batfish

O my god, I'm getting to old for this... and I'm not mean, that's why I could see the fun of Happy Hardcore.

Everyone his own taste, but nice to hear what others listen to. I guess there are more hardcore fans that we think.

I like it Mostly listen to Angerfist, Tha Playah, Evil Activities, Stunned Guys, some Neophyte, Nosferatu etc. There's more but that says a lot of my taste already I believe.

For the first time in my life, I actually had the opportunity to go to listen some Hardcore live outside my own freaking room a few weeks ago so I went to Mindcore Presents Angerfist Live and that was fun as hell. Angerfist was great but the other acts and DJ's were awesome as well.
Especially Proteus.. He had hurt his leg in some way I don't know about and had to sit on a fucking table while mixing, but still he sometimes rises up to almost stand on the table and go mad like he usually does during live sets.. Crazy man.
