I hope his hair will float all the way to Finland so I'd have at least a little bit of a chance to see it before I die. And then I'd cut it. Cut it until it doesn't exist anymore.

My gosh if I had a life I'd be worried this is just passing time. Nah I plan on keeping the shore mostly in sight the entire trip. 10-50$ when I put in. It will cost less on the water than in port.
Basically youre floating on a hunk of ceramic.. propelled by something harnessing kinetic motion by propelling the craft across the surface of a large quantity of water... in a worse case scenario you stop being on the surface and start movement downward instead of in your desired direction.
It will cost less to live on the boat then in an appartment. bearing I don't loose my mainsail. Once a year I'll probably need to do the bottom and gel things for under $1000. The odd part may also need replacement (and these can be bought as the budget allows in advance incase of part failure during an outing.) The outboard is the big cost item.
I've done pricing on boating and I'm within the range of surviverability,
i hate to break it to you, but you're not excused. go take a fuck to yourself.

Hah yeah I'm not talking about fear either. I'm saying that reaction time can be a big deal if you get hit by a storm. Not saying it isn't possible, but there's a difference between perseverance and determination to do something, and blind optimism that you can do it.
Allow me to use an analogy: DJ'ing
You've read tons of books on dj'ing, you understand how beatmatching works and how to do it, etc, but you've never spent more than a few hours on the decks. Chances are, playing a big clob is NOT the best thing to do at this point, you'd practice and learn your craft, then move up to doing more ambitious things. Except in this case, you'd trainwreck instead of shipwreck. However, both things are funny to people watching you and hoping you fail, so I suppose I'm all for it.

Go ahead and a fuck yourself. Im sure you wont give us the satisfaction of letting us know you failed but I hope you do .
Sailing isnt as easy as you seem to think. Your thought process will get you properly fucked.

Laughing at the ludicrous plans of Ashley. Hey if you ever get stranded on a deserted island you can weave your hair into a raft and sail back to civilization. Jack Sparrow did it and so can you.
Anyways, a college friend of mine once took me out on his catamaran. Both an exhilarating and scary feeling being at the mercy of the ocean and mother nature. When the wind picked up and that boat lifted out of the water. There's a humble serenity that comes over you.
ps. I hope a shark eats you alive.

What the fuck is wrong with all of you? Stop telling him not to do it. Ashley, I hereby support this entire plan of yours. I think it's brilliant, and I think that you'll be able to succeed as long as you put your mind to it! DO IT! Don't let a single Goddamned one of these fucks tell you not to.

its not complex
you raise the sails in the right order, put the boat in the right direction .. go in the right direction and whala.. protect the sail.
If you think you are gods gift to sailing why don't you offer some advice instead of making banal statements.
I dont think Im gods gift to sailing. I do know that its not something you just jump into on impulse. It is complex. Go ahead and raise those sails when there is no wind or when the wind is going the wrong direction. You are in canada and cant spell viola correctly...what makes you think sailing is a no brainer recreation?
