SET TIMES - Nexus @ RMH this Friday 8th May!
10pm - James Brooke
11pm - Chrissie Ferrer
12am - James Mac
01am - Mike Hafner (pres. TIESTO 00-04)
02am - Brendan B
03am - Jed (pres. SANDER VAN DOORN 04-07)
04am - Chubbs Deluxe (pres. DUMONDE/COSMIC GATE 02-05)
(set times are subject to change without notice)
Kickin' off this night of sheer bliss will be Trance Energy dabbling Nexus resident James Brooke with some dirty filthy "BYO soap" prog, sliding effortlessly into trance's newest bunny from the west Chrissie Ferrer who will be bringing you all some beautiful trancey tunes to tantalise the ears
From there, the trance turns a sharp left and like an abrupt gloveslap to the face by someone challenging you to a duel, James Mac will break into the tech-house and before you know it, blow your pants off with some tech-trance just in time for our first Oldskool Era-Set by young Nexus fave guest Mike Hafner who will be bringin to ze speakers some of the tunes, releases and remixes that made man of the moment TIESTO the unstoppable hit that he was back in 2000-2004
Once you're done saying "I think he was better than that Tiesto guy", Brendan B - fresh off his multi-year european tour running the epic Supernature Events which played host to wicked names such as Alex M.O.R.P.H., Giuseppe Ottaviani & Aly Fila - will put his White Sands hat on the rack for one night and dish us some brilliant trance tuneage in the style that he is known for
Then before you can utter "I think I want to have this guy's babies", yours truly, Jed, will hit the decks and crank the chunky bassy tech-trance audio gold that turned "Sander van Who?" into "SANDER VAN DOORN! FARKYEAH!" back in 2004-2007 before ex-Bass Station mainman Chubbs Deluxe graces us with one of his last Melbourne performances before he relocates to Europe to hang with the trance legends and stars of today for God knows how long Chubbs has been handed the task of doing the honours in re-opening the much loved and much missed harder trance era of the two dynamic duo's of DUMONDE and COSMIC GATE from the rockin' era of 2002 - 2005.
Tighten your belt, secure those dancing shoes and adjust your soberiety because this Friday - NEXUS will be rockin' your world sideways with the best of prog, tech and trance from some of the scenes most devoted trance lovers

i think that set time for James Brooke is pretty ridiculous..
He has warmed up for Nexus nights on many occasions, because he certainly knows how to warm-up, he was also put on for the closing set at the last nexus, which he absolutely owned.. no doubt that he was one of the better acts of the night. And the crowd showed that.
He is a great DJ in knowing how to tell the story of the night, and work it with progression. He wont bang it out at 10pm.. just like he wont slow it down at 3:00.
I would like to see James play a set time that lets him express his other side of DJing, so he can be the crowd pleasing, ear teaser we all know he is. Like he was at White Sands at peak time slot, which of course was one of his greatest sets played out. Not to mention his Trance Energy set, which was at a time where he could really express his DJing abilities.. and he surely did!
For a random punter thinking about going to Nexus and seeing a " Trance Energy " tagged DJ, put on for the opening set would have to be taken as a joke or just a poor placement..
I don't mean to come across as an a-hole.. but this is how I see it. and I would be surprised if I was the only one |
fair point you made but there are a few dj's on the list that have fair few scalps under there belt as well
