Yo,

If I planned a "Special" NYTA party on Friday night and it went as long as it wanted to into saturday... Would people go to it even if they planned on going to Tiesto?

Keep in mind, I am not marketing to the "Commercial" scene here.

The Lake Stage @ night is for the NY crew who wants to make this event happen..

Wanna see some raw photos of the place?

I gotta get out there and make a nice sales kit for the place, If you want sponsors like Coke, Fuse/MTV, Monster, Sharp... ya gotta have the pitch!

We are considering getting involved in a "Guinness Book of World's Records" in regards to "Alternative Energy"... and we are also looking to have an effective "Cause" that will touch the hearts of those that care. Get some acts to be a part of it... It's hard to create a cause around "Electric".. unless it's so big that you can raise enough to build a solar power plant that distributes free energy.. hehehehe.. That sounds like a good cause

I really am only bothering you with 1 page of 30 in the business plan.

Have no fear, this fest is the real deal... I just have to see how far we should go with the Electronic scene..

Thanks for posting, Keep em coming!

Ben

Dude, if you look at government spending... They are spending MORE on alternative energy..

Sorry to get off subject.. I have nay sayers!

ALBANY — The $5 million in economic development funding dedicated to attract the solar energy industry to the Hudson Valley has been left in the state budget and was not cut as part of the deficit-reduction plan approved by the state Assembly, according to Assemblyman Kevin Cahill.

Cahill, D-Kingston, is chairman of the Assembly’s Energy Committee and said he fought to keep the funding intact.

http://www.dailyfreeman.com/article...4f729005137.txt

“In order to get our economy moving again, we must continue our commitment to invest in green jobs,” Cahill said. “Solar power is going to play a critical role in our energy future and economic development in our region. I look forward to partnering with Gov. (David) Paterson and entities like The Solar Energy Consortium to make sure this funding is dedicated quickly and effectively.”

The Solar Energy Consortium is an Ulster County-based organization of businesses and universities dedicated to the development of solar energy technology for the Northeast and the creation of perhaps thousands of jobs in New York state.

“In this economic environment, the solar industry is going to go to where the money is, so the quicker we get these funds out the door, the faster we can begin creating good, green jobs in Ulster County and throughout the Hudson Valley,” said Vince Cozzolino, the consortium’s chief executive officer.

This event is SOLARITY FEST... They are my main advocate group that is going to get the funding and support for this to work.

So, now that we have that out of the way.

Enough of the "problems"...

Think of this thread as the "Planning Committee" for ideas on organizing a way for all you guys to get together to party.

Who else is throwing you this kind of party? Seriously, take this opportunity to get everyone you know and plan YOUR party if you want to do it.. This isn't "MY" party, It's your party!

Who do I talk to on here to make this an Official TA event?

Thanks for helping me so far! I appreciate it.

Ben

Leave the problem solving to me.. Thats what I do

If you bring Super8 & Tab, I'd be willing to drive damn near anywhere. If it ends up on the same night as Tiesto I will be going to Tiesto unless you have a solid multi-headliner line up.

As for the whole tranceaddict party thing, people have tried...the location and what else is going on always affects the turn out but even considering those factors we wouldn't make up the 10,000 expectation you are looking for unless you also market to those outside of NYC and in other regions or Canada as well.

To draw even more of a crowd I suggest you get WAY more people involved here and do an event like for example "the battle of the boards" and bring in DJ's from TA, Groovenauts, Trance.nu.....shit even clubplanet if you have to and create a local DJ competition on top of having big name dj's as the main event. I am sure MANY people on here would go support their favorite locals. Get sponsors for prizes etc etc...

To drive that far, especially considering many of these city dwellers use mass transit you need to give them serious incentive.

To make an "official" TA event you need to speak to Swamper.

I like the battle idea.

Again, I want 600 trance/techno fans here.. We own the night. So, we just want enough to make a sick party environment while everyone else returns to their homes, hotels, tents.. or hangs with us.

not 10,000... This fest is also Rock music during the day..

Thank you Euphoria!

Ben

See, from square one, one of your mistakes is your perception of TA. At its height and with the most supporters, NYTA's might be able to account for 50-80 people at most. Unfortunately, the 5000 people that go see Tiesto are the ones you need to be marketing to, we're just a tiny minority and our tastes in music and DJs don't necessarily reflect anything that thousands of people will drive 90 miles out of their way to go to.

Ben, your energy and intentions seem to be absolutely in the right place, but your know-how and sense of reality as far as our scene goes is lacking. In 2 pages, you've gone from doing a TA camping trip to getting multi-million dollar CEOs involved, and having Coke and MTV sponsor this thing, in an effort to compete with Tiesto, all while going for the Guinness Book for alternative energy.

Like I mentioned before, doing a party with one small to midlevel headliner in a 300-person venue right smack in the middle of New York City takes months of preparation and doesn't even always yield results. It takes years to be able to throw parties and run venues so that they get those 5, 6, or 700 people that you're saying you saw at Pacha, or the 4000 people at Tiesto parties for that matter. They don't "just come" and you're not realizing that.

If you get MTV and Fuse involved for that matter, that's a different story, but since I was 16 and starting DJing in small clubs, I've had promoters telling me they could deliver the world and fly me out to Morocco and Dubai and get me sponsored by Red Bull (and all that kinda stuff), so when something like this pops up, I'm naturally skeptical, so I apologize for that.

Hey Eco.. I appreciate your help and concerns. Anything you can offer is great.

I never changed my story.. But, I am more or less telling you the full "Scope" of the festival. I am not creating ideas here, these are already in the works.

This is not just an Electronic music fest..

Here is the thing. You automatically assume, because I am talking about a huge fest and hoping that the NYTA will come.. you assume that is all I got.. and I'm some kid who has no idea.

This party is like 1 of 8. There are 5 stages!

If you tell me that at most, I can get 20 people who are on this forum to drive/bus/train up to come to their own party.. sweet.

HELP ME plan your Psy/Trance party.. 1 long evening into the morning.. (I'll take care of the rest)

This is the forum that I go to, to check for events and find new mixes... I figured I would talk to you guys first. Give you a voice. I don't expect you guys to make this event a success on your own. I just want to let you guys throw your own party..

If Tiesto causes a major problem for the NYC area, I will plan accordingly.

Thanks again!

I like the idea, and euphoria has a few good pointers.

Don't you guys do a reunion @ Steve-Neil's place in RI though? 90 miles away seems even closer, just sayin'.

I think with an outdoor event like what you're pitching here, you would have to do some of your promoting for sure @ COSM, and be ready to offer them some goa and psy. They'll go anywhere. The owners of the gallery actually got this huge piece of land upstate where they'll have events too, so I think you should talk to them, maybe have a little new age art expo, and/or artists doing their thing during the event.
Also think about the possibility for offering a shuttle, rent a couple of buses and have them driving back and forth a few times a day. Charge for it to cover any extra expenses the bus rentals may cause. When there's a shuttle, people have less of an excuse to not go.
The PA festivals that used to be held every year are not happening anymore, if you promote it to the right groups of people, you'll get that crowd. Look up Dj CT and Fatjo on Facebook, they do these sorts of things in the NY area; and CT, RI, MA etc with Jack McDevitt. I'm pretty sure they would like to be involved with something like this.

Hey,

I actually know one of the DJ's that does parties at COSM. He is from here. And yes. they have a gallery near Poughkeepsie.. which is 25 minutes away. Great idea getting them involved! Thank You!!

I did plan on having ART, as you can see from my Avatar, I am an oil painter myself.

I do plan on having shuttle buses for Train and Bus ppl..

I actually own one already that my band remodeled into a "Tour Bus".. I would probably set that up for a 10 person party bus from NYC / NJ up to the show. Perhaps a way for people here to arrive.

Thanks again!
Ben
