I'm sorry guys. I haven't received any replies after a couple of days and forgot to check if anybody posted a comment. Anyway I have had the computer for a couple of weeks now and it's a very stable machine. I think that in terms of performance, I have more than enough for what I intend to do.
Anyway, the only mistake I have made as far as I can tell was with the case. This thing has a perforated front panel and 5 friggin fans. It was quite a stupid mistake but one I could fix I suppose.
On to what I intend to do. For now I plan to get an Digidesign M-Box (haven't decided which one, most likely Pro). Why am I going to use ProTools you asking? The simple answer I have for you is that you must not know very much about the program. Yes it is complex but it doesn't have to be. The beauty of it is the amount of possibilities that it extends to the user. The program would allow me to integrate other applications, such as Reason and Live, should I want to. It really is the ultimate production center, and I can choose to use just a small percentage of it or go all out. It will be totally up to me. And we're honestly not even talking that much money here. The M-Box would cost me $900 tops and it comes with ProTools 8. Add a $200 midi controller and I'm good to go.
Anyway I intend to produce electronic dance music, just like anybody who visits this board does. You have to start somewhere, right? Yea I could start out simple but I'd want to upgrade eventually so why not just go with the superior option now that I can?
Anyway I plan to learn as I go along, trust me. I don't know a whole lot but I plan to change that.
Thanks to everyone who responded. As for the computer's specs, that video card really wasn't expensive so I wouldn't say it's overkill at all. The hard drive gives me a noticeable performance boost when performing simple tasks so I'd imagine it will give me an advantage when recording in real time and such. As for the OS, I know that I am only limited to 3gb now but hell, do I really need more now? I plan to upgrade to Windows 7 when it comes out and there's good driver support. For now this will do. I don't know if I mentioned it or not but I didn't buy Win XP64 because Protools simply doesn't run on it.
