LOL, that's such a bad photo, it looks like pita and dog piles.
Slightly more attractive:

For those who don't already know, they're basically sausages, similar to kebabs. They're usually made with beef, sometimes lamb. They're Bosnian/Serbian/Croatian depending on who you ask. Usually you eat them on a pita with onions and some sort of cheese or cream (the place we went last year had great kajmak, a mild yogurty-like cheese).
That's about it. |
that picture makes it look really dumb actually..lol
For people that know...the picture I know is how its served. If anyone serves it to you different, its some kinda phony act and them trying to make it look pretty or some shit...it just wrong.
Its served in a lepina (the bread there) and with onions and kajmak.. just how it looks.
I would love to go to one of these. I have tried a few places that have them in Canada and some were ok, but not the real thing. I guess i sound all mightier than thou, but i dont meant to
Anyway, ummm yeah i'm in.
Oh and btw the REAL cevapi come from Bosnia. If someone tells you otherwise they are lying. To be specific, city of Travnik in Bosnia has the best cevapi in the world!
umm ok so now im done....oh and im in..
EDIT: P.S. Real cevapi are made with lamb. Not the main meat, but a little lamb is mixed with beef, specifically lamb fat. This gives it the flavour, taste, and texture.

based on your description, it kinda sounds like a different version of the greek gyros on a pita.
