It is not collusion for companies to pass along a charge to you. It's kind of how business works.
I didn't hear you crying collusion when every store gave you your bag for free. |
I dont think you quite understand the concept of collusion

While there is an element to what you're saying I do agree with, along with fears of "nanny state"/etc, some things you get 'outraged' about leave me scratching my head a bit. Sort of like PETA, while at one level I can agree with part of their cause, but they are just such a bunch of whack jobs I have a hard time taking anything they do seriously.

unfortunately the plastic law bag is a symptom of a much bigger problem. The government (especially toronto and ontario) now feel it is their right to control every little choice there is to make because their way somehow is the right way. Why? Because with every single little law that is passed without resistance, it is a license for more control. Its out of control now. You do realize the next thing on their list is charging for water bottles, fast food containers and paper bags right? But hell, whats a few more nickles and dimes for a population that is now used to being nickled and dimed right?

Where a discount is more likely to go unnoticed and not change consumer behavior that much. | Or better yet, the grocery stores only save 2 cents on a bag and would lose 3 cents on a discount when the opposite makes them a gross 7 cents more.

How is it defeating the purpose?
- Many people out right toss their grocery bags
- They don't hold as much garbage |
[/quote] they dont hold as much garbage, arent we being engineered to NOT throw out as much garbage? To be honest all i need is a grocery bag every couple of days to manage my garbage. Green bags are of not much use to me. But again, why should my situation be taken into account when city hall knows better?
