Froim my understanding of the system this means that what a nromal person can see at 20 feet, you can see at 400? If so then eagle.

wow that's pricey.

i'm so glad i have good vision. i mean i'm sure if i got an eye exam, i wouldn't be perfect and i have some trouble reading signs from far away but it's not anything that really impairs my daily routines or driving.

False. The measurement means exactly this:

What you see at 20 ft away (20/), someone with perfect vision can see 400 feet away (/400).

I am something like 20/800 or probably worse.

my vision's 20/400. am investigating insurance options this week and hope to have surgery by the end of the year. i'm just nervous because ugh...it's my SIGHT...but lol not like i have much now. to have to deal with contacts and glasses for the rest of my life?

The insurance options I have seen, unless they have changed in the last 2 years, are only a 15-20% discount. I haven't seen anything better. Let me know if yours is though. I would pay for that eye coverage on my own just to get it.

My contacts are -8 in both eyes with a 130 and 170 (not sure which is r and l) astigmatism correction. Glasses are -9 in both. I have SHIT eye sight. Talk about blind.

That is part of the research. Learn the proper terminology so that you can ask the proper questions without confusing the assistants and doctors. It always leads to a more informed patient.

I got back from the surgery

Everything went very smoothly, they numbed my eyes, taped my eyelids down so that I couldn't blink, then they had me look at a blinking red light the entire time. they marked where my cornea flap needed to be lifted, and they lifted it up. I literally couldn't see shit except the distant red light and the silhouettes of the doctors. the laser lasted about 20 seconds, then the flap was put back on. Both eyes were very painless to do, and they used absolute state of the art equipment. It was very quick and easy. I took a cat nap while my mother went to a doctors appointment, and when I woke up, I could read street signs with no problem.

I have 4 different kinds of eye drops to take on a scheduled basis, by tomorrow my discomfort in the eyes should be gone, but I still need to take the drops.

The whole thing was about $4300, including the lifetime insurance on them. Hopefully by tomorrow I can reap the full benefits of it. At the moment, I'm wearing my sunglasses and about to crawl back in bed. Anyone who is considering LASIK should absolutely take the plunge, just take it from me. Absolutely incredible difference.

Get ready for a restless night. The first night sucked for me... Just use a bunch of those anti-itch eyedrops they gave you and you'll be back to normal tomorrow.
