Good set, some great tracks in here. I agree that the mixing was a little dodgy tho, but that didnt take away from the set too much. Nice work!

Exposed is a great cross-over track when moving to more morning/full-on stuff. The Liquid Soul remix is more proggy than not.

Mix is good matey, transitions are better than most I've heard from you, and the tracks themselves are class (he says having used 3 of them himself in the past, hehe)

One could be confused about how proggy something is by its bassline, sometimes if a rolling bassline is prevalent in a track it may confuse a listener, but the true tale lies in how the track progresses. Depending on how the energy levels build in the track, you should be able to tell but sometimes prog/full-on stuff may have a lovely hybrid, which is what a lot of these tracks are: chunky, juicy, energetic prog-psy

I appreciate the listen, Yin was very full-on, and kind of annoying in some places, and a lot of people don't quite like that kind of stuff. You should give the full-on set that is coming next month a taste if you wanna give it another try

Yes, it was, but I conceded the fact that my gains were indeed too low on some transitions and they should have been increased or leveled properly as you pointed out. Technically, if the method I use is done right, it could make for some decent transitions. Sorry if my style of mixing is sloppy to you

I guess my flow seemed a little better because this was all mixed harmonically, even tho some of my mixes were a tad on the quiet side or had some key clashes. Glad you liked it anyways!

alright, listening nowish

Fear & Loathing intros have been done lots, but no biggie. I did a fucking rainstorm intro in my latest mix, so hai five for intros that have been beaten to death

The track at 11 or so minutes in has tons of random noises that I'm not all that into. They seem to be there to add depth to the track, but they just feel arbitrary. The mix out was a bit abrupt. Fuck I feel like I'm chinstroking.

The track at 24 minutes in is naaaice. Which one is this? Might have to nub it. The breakdown's a bit happy, but I've got plenty of prog like that so I can't complain too much.

There's also some decent tracks towards the end, but I think the beginning part of the track I mentioned earlier was my favorite (part of a) track.

All in all a solid mix. Decent flow and it wasn't too full-on for me. Do moar of zees.

Yeah, I know Fear and Loathing is probably as common as a Christopher Lawrence track in the DJ Promo forums, but I couldn't help myself, I have done all the other intros to movies that I own and I hadn't done Fear and Loathing yet

The track at 11 min is Time Traveller, and the mix out of it was the one we have been discussing in this thread a bunch. I think the actual track is killer, but my mix out of it was way too quiet. It could have been an awesome transition but I blew it

24 minutes is Rumble in the Jungle, Zen Mechanics kills this remix. Domesticated played it on Contact back in February or whatever. (btw, Dom, I listen to Contact all the fucking time, I have it on a CD in my car )

I'll probably have another prog-psy mix in a few months or so, it's hard to find really good proggy stuff, and I've already got at least 6 more sets lined up Thanks for listening again, I know psy isn't your thing!

Ok, here is my review! First I have to mention a few things: first, I know that you are new to the psy prog thing so its understandable but you need to work on this later for the new sets. Use fresh or underrated tracks mostly, not the ones that were whored all around the previous year (Lone Ranger, Ground Control, Rumble in the Jungle, Synthetic Vibes etc.). You need to dig a little harder for your next mix for sure since all these tracks (for me and for most of the psy fans) are not interesting atm.

Anyway, the set as a whole was nice, I just noticed a few strange transitions, most of them were ok, like the first one which worked quite well. At some points like most of the guys mentioned the volume falls a bit too much. The tracks flow ok into each other maybe Exposed didnt work as an intro track so well for me but the track is quite good nevertheless. The mixing as a whole is much better than some of your previous mixes which is a good point.

So my main remark is that this set doesnt really expose something new and interesting. Most of the tracks were played many many times before so for the serious fans they do not appeal very much now. Still, as a first only prog psy set is decent, looking for a next one with some more digging and more interesting moments! Cheers!

Thanks, Mag, I know a lot of those tracks have been played a lot and I was waiting for someone to complain about it!

Honestly, part of the reason I used those tracks is because I really liked them and I didn't want to put just one of them in there, I figured why not make a set with all my favorite prog-psy tracks? Next time will definitely be tracks that weren't played by J00f throughout the past few years I can guarantee next time will have PLENTY more underrated/underplayed tracks. I hope you mildly enjoyed this at the very least

Mag, keep an eye out for my July set, I know you think most of my full-on mixes are cheesy, but this next one should be 100% cheese free. Probably the last regular full-on set I will be making for quite a while, as most new full-on is cheesy and boring.
