off coarse trance is geared to be on a loop when producers set out to make a dance tune be it trance, tech or house their main agenda is to keep it in a 4/4 or 5/8 format.

then thier's the other end of the market made for listening and mainstream ect.

to me trance is so diverse hence why its made up of so many sub genres.
producers can play around with it.

its just not as hip anymore minimal and electro is.

Re: What do you like about trance? (Technically)

If they think trance is repetitive get them to listen to techno or house lol
EDM is meant to be repetitive and that's why we like it)

Frankly, every genre in music is "repetitive" in its own way,not just in EDM let be hip-hop or pop etc,if the music had not been "repetitive" we would not be able to classify tunes or songs by their correct music genres

So, enjoy listen to the music that you like, ignore what other say about it ,do not follow the peer pressure be yourself, listen to music that makes you happy, pal

A question:

Do you think it may be that one of the greatest things about trance is in fact that it is repetitive? One thing that I love about music is wonderful melodies dancing around in a beautiful and stimulating harmony... The problem is that many times they are overly exaggerated...

It seems that trance solves that problem by delivering one or two general motifs of beautiful melody in the purest form without worrying about making a 'song' (as we know it).

Some people see trance as reptitive and crude. I am starting to see it as a wonderful epiphany in our collective musical history.

Would love to hear any comments and your own technical thinking on such a wonderful art.

Ps.lve always been a trance fan and l will always be.

Even though my music preferences nowadays widely range from minimal and progressive to techno and house, l like and respect trance.

Trance is like a classical music of modern days and l like it very much. Minimal and techno are great for partying, but they dont have the same feelings that trance has, trance can give you goosebumps because it's so beautiful and euphoric. As much as l like minimal and prog l have had l can the same vibes listening to them as l have had with trance.

In nutshell, all EDM is good and it's best to give a listen to them all as each of them offers something different and unique

IMHO

Since this is now apparently a YouTube thread, I'll post two tracks that exemplify one thing I love about trance, the heavy use of oscillating filter modulation:

That's a big part of the characteristic "trancey" sound for me.

The reason there is a lack of a true quality of "trance" music thesedays is because too many uneducated "trance" producers make the tunes trying to copy somebody else's sound or style. Trance is well-knowingly overproduced, hence there are many low quality trance tracks are being made. The sound has changed over the years and the quality with it,too...

Nevertheless, there are some decent trance tracks are made, just be selective and stay positive people!!!!

trance makes me wanna fall into a trance. trance is garbage with the garbage arpeggio. even the '99 trance joints are wack. I could only accept the old school 15+ year old trance and that's it. trance symbolizes the pathetic hippie waitin for the lead synth to come in. that shit is wack.

house and its subgenres >>>>>>>>> trance
