Oh shit! HAHA!! I didn't even notice that!

Check this out... SC's newspaper called "State" published copies of emails between Sanford and his special lady friend. How the heck did they get copies of that??

http://www.thestate.com/sanford/story/839350.html

Edit: here's an excerpt to get your juices flowing (from Sanford to her):

quote:
You have a particular grace and calm that I adore. You have a level of sophistication that so fitting with your beauty. I could digress and say that you have the ability to give magnificent gentle kisses, or that I love your tan lines or that I love the curve of your hips, the erotic beauty of you holding yourself (or two magnificent parts of yourself) in the faded glow of the night’s light - but hey, that would be going into sexual details ...

Three and finally, while all the things above are all too true - at the same time we are in a hopelessly - or as you put it impossible - or how about combine and simply say hopelessly impossible situation of love. How in the world this lightening strike snuck up on us I am still not quite sure. As I have said to you before I certainly had a special feeling about you from the first time we met, but these feelings were contained and I genuinely enjoyed our special friendship and the comparing of all too many personal notes ...

I think that the bigger issue is that for five days, nobody knew who was in charge. The Governor's Chief of Staff and the Lieutenant Governor didn't even know where he was. I think the issue is that he violated the public trust by disappearing.

I've always been of the opinion that affairs, regardless of political party, are not politically noteworthy.

+ 1/2... depends on how strong that particular candidate spouts off about morals. Kudos to Sanford for at least paying out of his own pocket intead of doing anything on the taxpayer's dime. lol

Eh, it makes them a hypocrite, but not unfit to fulfill the duties of their office.

lol @ me kind of defending the family-values folks with that one.

My browser crashed. Numerous times.

For South America, I prefer Brazilian girls though.

Based on the pictures, that is.

i don't share your sentiment. people have cell phones and I'm sure he could have been reached. in the business world most contact isn't face to face so i don't care where he conducts his business. if he literally disappeared without the ability to be contacted, that might be different. Somehow, i don't think he totally disappeared without contact, that would be really stupid. he deserves some privacy and his employees don't need to know where he is at all times (i don't tell my co-workers the details of my vacations or what i'm doing when i don't come into work on a thursday and friday, which i have done before). maybe we should require politicians to be implanted with gps devices so that we can track their location on a public website.

He was out of the country, and obviously couldn't be reached. That's how the whole scandal started in the first place - his staff had no idea where he was for five days, and couldn't get ahold of him to find out.

My understanding is that's exactly what happened.

I'm pretty sure his wife knew where he was.

that's not obvious at all. why does being out of the country mean he couldn't be reached? i leave the country all the time and i'm still accessible by cellphone.

while he may not have been reachable at will, i just can't see a person of his standing disappearing like that. but then again, it could be true. i have no f'in clue.

if those are the facts, then i can't really defend his leaving the country for that period. he needs to stay in touch, even though i don't think his staff needs to know what he's doing or where he's going.
