I seem blind to what goes on under saddam? I lived under Saddam mate, and I'm a kurd/turkoman. He was a ruthless dictator belonging to a Pan-Arab socialist movement. I also like to think I'm pretty aware of the grave realities occur under the control of the regimes you mentioned.

I agree with the vast majority of the content of that article, when governing structures are referred to as "police state", "regime of terror", "tyrannical religious state", "dictatorship", "fanatical religious tyranny", etc. I am just at odds with Islamo-fascism because I feel it's an improperly used term. Besides, our disagreement on the term is just splitting hairs at this point, I think we share similar opinions regarding distaste for the Iranian regime/taliban so we should agree to disagree on this one!

nonetheless, thanks for the article.

here is a pretty smart liberal writing in March before the election fiasco

Finally, we got some substance out of you. Thanks.

Hey, the article changed my mind. At least I admit when I'm wrong. You should try it sometime. You know. See the other person's point of view. This entire time I'v seen you on this board, I don't think you'v deviated one inch from your ideological talking points...

Don't want to sound rude, but it seems like Q will go as far as it may be necessary to justify his political views. Even if Cheney tomorrow seizes control of the White House, he'd brag about how that move saved Al Qaeda from destroying the country or something like that.

I can be very determined politically at times, but I am never that bad.

Talk about bad ... it seems like this forum is dying out. There are only about a few or so people who post here now. You guys care to recommend some lively political forum websites out there, with a range of views?

This forum isn't dying out. It has its moments of activity and inactivity. It also has a wide range of views. Left and right.

I for one appreciate Magnetonium's efforts by creating threads to steer discussion away from the bipartisan back and forth that is US politics. Sometimes I like the cozy feel here and you get used to the people, as opposed to some massive discussion where people are decimals. For me it is much more grounding to be familiar with the characters that display their opinions here, it is much easier to interpret the discussions.

thats just it. I HAVEN'T CHANGED BECAUSE I DIDN"T HAVE TO. the only thing that changed was that it took a liberal to tell you the same fucking things i've been saying all along about Iran for you to accept it.

ffs dude if theres anyone here that needs to change ideologically in order to understand some of the things in their world around them better, it's you.

wtf are you talking about? IMO it's weak to use your political adversaries as weapons. IOW what is the point of saying, "well you support Cheney therefore if he hit Barack Obama over the head with a baseball bat you would insist Cheney acted in self defence"?. it's absurd and sure as hell doesn't make you any better than what you are accusing me of to begin with.

last time i checked this sub-forum was called political discussion and debate, not political hug-fest and circle-jerk.

if you've noticed i'm within a small minority here...by choice. if i didn't feel like i could make my political cases valid enough to be, at the very least, taken seriously i wouldn't put up with all of the derision and snark that goes with the territory of being a neo-con in a room full of liberals.

im not asking for anyone to feel sorry for me - i just want to be taken seriously when i'm being serious because half the fucking time all i really want to do is make a joke out of everything.

+1

i've never said it but he's the only one here that makes the consistent effort lately. and we've been fortunate enough to have witnessed his legitimate evolution of certain political views and thats awesome to watch.

there's plenty, literally volumes, of subject matter well worth dicussing without derision, but what is politics without argument?

No it doesn't take a liberal. It simply takes a well-researched article. Something I hardly ever get out of you. Why should I take you seriously when half your posts are insults to my intelligence?

LOL, you, a 28% Bush supporter don't need to change anything ideologically!

I'v changed PLENTY during my time here. Can you say the same? Remember when I was a creationist conservative Bush loving Republican? Opus/Renegade cured me of creationism, and Bush himself, cured me of Republicanism and the hypocritical farce that it is. I'm not asking you to abandon your beliefs, just maybe a little respect for my point of view, and I'd gladly return it in kind. Me and the17sss are diametrically opposed on almost everything, but we still keep the discussion respectful...

I actually like you a lot Q, especially after that picture of my name next to your weed. But if you'r going to be an asshole, I always return the favor.
