No im not russian DUH!! Yes i absolutely asked quite a few russians how they felt & they weren't all that mad/concerned about the theme/title. They were happy that someone was reaching out to them with "there" djs.They didnt care about the "theme" more bout the djs.

Honest feedback is HIGHLY important. NEGATIVITY is not. While i honesty take YOUR feedback & opinions to heart where most wont, negativity is not the goal.

We ALL know what countries have screwed the pooch & will continue this masquerade of retarded mentality. What is the need to express this? Clubbing is meant to escape not be in the "real word."

i don't see how i was bringing negativity into this (although it has since exploded into a negative). i was simply expanding on a concern blackhorse raised, explaining why it is considered taboo in russia. you could have replied with "Most Russians i have spoked to are happy bout the event." and left it at that rather than going further to state my opinions are useless, jaded, uncalled for and chumping and forcing me on the defensive.

my concern wasn't so much what russian-american partygoers in sf think about the ussr theme, but more about what the headliners from russia privately think about us because of it. as non-americans they might have a different take on it. the way i see it, taking the fact that there are two russians coming to play here and theming the party with communist symbols doesn't reflect well on either society.

likewise if you were booked in russia at a back in dixieland party with a confederate flag on your flyer, you might be wondering what people there are thinking too. i'm sure red square promotions and dj coldwar disagree with me here, but i'm just not sure about bobina and dj feel. i don't think they'd feel strongly enough about it to say something to the guy flying them out here, but they might be put off by it inside. whatever though, it doesn't matter. i'm sure after the event is over any reservations they had about us because of the flyer will be dispelled.

Negativity by bringing real world scenarios into picture. IMO pointless.

Feel & Bobina have played an event with same title. Just not as blatant titling as the event sf is doing.

Not all but Most of the Russians i have spoke were born in Russia & while they weren't over-ally ecstatic about the flag part of flyer, again, they were very happy that Russian DJs were coming.

Ill say it again Rich...I TRULY value your thoughts, ideas & opinions. I just don't value "real life" drama when the idealism behind any event is to fly away to dreamland through DJ's music.

On that final thought from me i hope you can make it so my face does not end up handicapped.

Hell when the play in LA the next night, the night is called "Back to the USSR!"

It could be that the Russians and other cultures in general are less politically correct and sensitive than we are about those sorts of things. We could even be more offended at the sight of communist symbols than they are. Not that anybody's actually offended. Just different. :]
