Hear,hear!!
| quote: | | And apart from that: why is it that when a music genre/artist is appreciated by a large audience, it/he/she immediately gets labeled as "commercial"? Does the amount of people attracted to a certain music genre tell us anything about that music's quality? I don't think so. |
DAMN STRAIGHT!!!!It's quite unfair to bash Umek and Tiesto for this when you don't even know whether the remixes will suck,if the tune will sell a whole bunch of copies and go into the charts(which is VERY unlikely,we're talking 'bout a techno tune here, for christ's sake) and even if Umek will get any more attention from this at all(and I still can't figure out why that would be a bad thing,as long as his productions aren't affected.Umek,of all producers, would really deserve to make it big.).The reactions we're getting here is basically another display of techno prejudice towards other genres of music that they consider not to be as "underground" as themselves. The least you could've done was to wait until you've actually heard the remixes, and until you've seen the reaction they get in the market before going all flame happy, claiming that Umek has sold out and that Tiesto has triggered the friggin' downfall of techno.Jeez, grow up!
