wow I like these bits also

More plug-ins, less power.

Most applications switch on the juice for plug-ins as soon as they’re inserted. But Logic Pro features an intelligent DSP engine that asks for power only when a signal runs through the plug-in. So go ahead, pile on the instruments and effects. It will take more than that to slow you down.

Harness multiple computers.

Use distributed audio processing to combine the power of multiple computers on a network, and your plug-in processing power can be virtually unlimited. It even works for third-party plug-ins.

Did logic really not have audio quantize, and so on, up until now? LOL.

Cubase has had that since way back in SX3 and now has full time stretching and pitch shifting a-la Melodyne. Way to be behind the 8 ball...

Yeah, Logic´s way of handling audio has always been below par imo. Now, though,
it seems like they have implemented a lot of good stuff. I dunno, but it still looks
like Cubase has the edge still in terms of the complete package. Logic is such a joy to use
though, so I won´t be jumping ship (again) atm. I find that using Live8 and logic gives me
the best of all worlds!

That's not entirely true - Logic has been ahead on some audio functions and behind on others, such as the fact that logic automatically stretches and pitches imported samples, while cubase's attempt at hitpoints for audio is a joke. Cubase has had time stretching for a while but so has logic (pitch and time machine etc.) although up until logic 8 it wasn't very well implemented.

I've always felt the opposite - logic was superb for audio editing (the editor in cubase was so crap I had to use wavelab) but midi was just so nice to use in cubase.

I think the gap is less between the two now and both do the same job very well - it just comes down to what platform you prefer.

I have to say I've found my mac and logic pro 8 combo the best solution for me and more stable than any version of cubase/pc I even ran for nearly 10 years.

Decided I'll try cubase instead. The money I'll save not bying a mac laptop will go toward speakers for DJ gigs.

If you feel it suits you the go for it but honestly, after working with cubase and thinking how great it was for the best part of a decade, the switch to mac/logic made me realize what I'd been missing.

I must spend 15-20% less time fucking about maintaining the computer and actually making music now I'm on logic.

Don't also forget you can always use cubase on the mac if you decide to but you can't use logic on a pc......

So worth the money to upgrade from Logic Pro 7 then, even if right now it will be my secondary sequencer to Ableton 7?
