If we had room to spare for wide bike lanes id be for it. But also remember, Vancouver is more of a year round bike city than we are. It makes a little more sense there. But to give the biggest objects on the road as much or less space than pedestrians and bikes. Thats a little bit far flung.

Spacing is a minor issue that would range from street to street obviously. I'm talking about a distinct separation between where cars travel and where bikes travel.

"In urban areas where a curb lane is too narrow to share safely with a motorist, it is legal to take the whole lane by riding in the center of it. This action is safer than riding near the curb, which may encourage a motorist to squeeze, by where there isn't sufficient room. If you are uncomfortable in the center of the lane, take an alternate route. On high-speed roads, it is not safe to take the whole lane."

If this goes through, expect a lot more cyclists to take up a lot more room

Watch out buddy.

See, Im that fixed gear riding messenger who has no problem putting a nice scratch or dent across your car. Also, piss me off enough and ill have a bike lock through your window in no time.

When you see me (or any other cyclist) adjacent to you please dont play stupid games like that.

And I'm the driver who would have no problem with having you put in jail and then file a lawsuit against you.

And a lot more run over cyclists. I cant wait for the day when a car going 60 runs into a bike going 10. Id hate to be that cyclist.

Are you the douche on the bike that yelled at me the other day when i was making a right turn and GOD FORBID temporarily blocked the lane that i was legally allowed to be in?

If you consider yourself a vehicle which you should under current laws... wait behind me. And dont give me attitude because im blocking you from breaking the law in the first place.

Are you the guy who went and vented on a forum because you may have been yelled at, due to inadvertently cutting said cyclist off?

Everything is perspective.

I dont piss off drivers for spite. We're all trying to get from one place to another. I've been riding in the city for years, i know the rules and I abide by them. In fact id venture to say i know the rules better than most of the cell phone addicted drivers out there. However when some imbecile decides that its lol funny to see how close to the curb he can get. That pisses me off. Don't screw around on the road. Trust me, ive seen enough go wrong. All it takes is for a side mirror to just tap the elbow of a cyclist and then shit hits the fan.

For this guy to go off like he did was inapropriate. Especially when he proceeded through the intersection on a red without stopping after i moved. If bicyclists want to be taken seriously they need to learn how to share the road. I dont support licensing but i do think the police should be charging them more often for blatantly disrespecting the law.

And i also think that cyclist with your mentality need to calm down and realize that they dont own the road and need to share it with other vehicles. If a car stops close to the curb you need to stop behind it and wait your turn. IMO its lucky that bikes can go up the side of a car in the first place. Motorbikes cant!

With enough minor roads criss crossing the city i dont know why cyclists feel the need for bike lanes all over the place. When i ride a bike i take the sideroads and only take the main road for the half block it takes to get to my destination.

Maybe on extra wide boulevards a bike lane could be an option. But it usually gets filled in with snow half the year anyways.

I once saw a douchcyclist block Queen/Bay interesection going West cos the car tried to cut him off - the idiot just got off his bike, blocking the whole lane and started dialing 911... seeing his ass get kicked by a cop on a bike made my day
