There's no MIDI on the Juno 60, but you can get a converter for it for about $100. The nice thing about the J60 is that it has the same filter as the Jupiter 8. But only one osc per voice...

The Pulse is a great machine.

As for the Nords, just get both a NL3 and NL1. What might be cool is the Nord Micro Modular. It's pretty cheap and has the same sound engine as the original NL1. Lots of fun modular possibilities, too. I have an NL3 now and may get a Nord Micro Modular in the future ...

Thanks for the help everyone. I just picked up a pulse and am in negotiations for an NL2 rack.

What the difference between nord lead 2 and the 2x except their 2nd hand price?

I see nord lead 2's go for about 390-450 euros and 2x's are about 700-750 euros. Both keyboard versions. What's the difference between these two? Is there any reason to save the extra cash? There's also nord lead 3 going for less than 800 euros, but these do not show up for sale as often as those two.

I'm looking to replace my cheap crappy midikeyboard with some decent synth. And after the thrillseeker studio video I've put my eyes and ears on these.

2x vs 2

- better dacs (24bit, 48kHz, balanced outs, less noise)
- more memory
- more polyphoni (20?)
- better presets
- drummaps

thats sums it up i think, most important is the new dac.

i also think this one sounds alot better than nord lead 3 as ive said thousands of times now.

I have a 2x and I recommend it. I like that it has 4 voice outputs, because more and more I'm leaning towards using hardware for the majority of my sounds. I can't comment on the 1, 2, or 3, except that for slightly more than the $600 you were going to drop on a NL1 keyboard you can get a 2x rack. It has the same interface as the keyed version and costs a lot less.

Thanks. I think I want a Juno 60 as my next synth, so I'm going to hold off on the Nord for a bit perhaps indefinitely.

The ES2 kicks some ass, so I really can't see myself purchasing a VA synth anytime soon. Especially since I have a nice CV/Gate to MIDI converter I'm going to be looking at old obscure pre-midi stuff to collect.

I love the ES2 as well, but overall I love hardsynths a lot more. Having real knobs to turn is infinitely more fun for me than adjusting parameters on a mouse.

I'm probably going to get 2 more hardsynths in the new few months and then restrict myself to hardware sounds for a while. For newer synths I'm looking at the Prophet 08 rack, Evolver, and Waldorf Blofeld... for older ones, maybe a Pulse or Q, or JP-8000 or something else.

A nice Evolver jam:
